🧠 Apologetics in 60 Seconds: Are Christians Anti-Intellectual?

Some people assume Christianity is opposed to thinking deeply or asking hard questions.
But history tells a different story.

Many of the greatest thinkers, scientists, writers, and universities in history were shaped by Christian belief.

The Bible repeatedly calls people to reason, examine, test, and seek wisdom. Christianity is not a blind leap away from thought—it is a faith that engages both the heart and the mind.

Christians don’t fear questions because truth can withstand examination.

Faith and intellect are not enemies.
They work best together.

🗣 Christianity doesn’t ask people to stop thinking—it invites them to think deeply about what is true.

Loving God includes loving Him with our minds.

This Day in Baptist History — June 4

Friend, when joy lives in the soul, even a jail cell can become a sanctuary.

On June 4, 1768, several Baptist preachers in Virginia—including John Waller and Lewis Craig—were arrested for preaching the Gospel. As they were marched through the streets toward the old stone jail, they didn’t hang their heads in defeat—they lifted their voices in song.

While their enemies mocked and accused them of disturbing the peace, these men sang hymns about the narrow way that leads to life. One writer later asked, “Would the nightingale care if the toad despised her singing?”

And oh, what a picture that is! These preachers understood something the world never can: when your heart is full of Christ, persecution cannot silence praise.

Here’s the lesson: the world may sneer, but the child of God can still sing. And sometimes the greatest testimony is not escaping suffering—but rejoicing in the middle of it.

Romans 15:12–13
“Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing.”

What a beautiful title for our Lord—“the God of hope.” In a world filled with disappointment, uncertainty, and broken promises, God alone is the unfailing source of true hope.

Biblical hope is not wishful thinking. It is confident expectation grounded in the character of God. It looks beyond present pain to future grace. And that hope is found in Jesus Christ, the Root of Jesse, who came not only for the Jews but for the Gentiles—for all who will believe.

Paul says that as we trust Him, God fills us with joy and peace. Notice the order: believing comes first, then joy and peace follow. Hope grows when faith rests in God’s promises.

The world offers temporary optimism that burns out quickly. But the hope Christ gives endures through sorrow, loss, and even death itself. It steadies the soul.

That is why weary hearts can still sing, “What a Friend we have in Jesus.” We do not carry our burdens alone. The God of hope invites us to bring everything to Him.

And when we do, hope begins to overflow.

“Lord, fill us today with Your joy, peace, and unshakable hope.”

🧠 Apologetics in 60 Seconds: What About Those Who Never Hear?

One of the hardest questions people ask is:
“What happens to those who never hear about Jesus?”

The Bible teaches that God is perfectly just and perfectly good. He knows every heart, every circumstance, and every opportunity a person has received.

Scripture also says that God has revealed Himself through creation and conscience, and that He desires people everywhere to seek Him.

At the same time, Jesus commanded His followers to take the Gospel to the world—which tells us this message matters deeply.

We can trust God to do what is right, even when we do not know every detail.

đź—Ł No one will stand before God treated unfairly or without perfect justice.

And that’s why sharing the Gospel still matters so much.

This Day in Baptist History — June 3

Friend, some of the greatest missionary stories begin with a simple question: “Wilt thou go with this man?”

When Edward Payson Scott asked Anna Kay to join him on the mission field in Assam, India, she answered much like Rebekah of old: “I will go.” Together they carried the Gospel into dangerous territory among fierce tribes who had never heard the name of Jesus.

On one unforgettable occasion, Dr. Scott walked into a mountain pass surrounded by armed warriors. Humanly speaking, it looked like certain death. But instead of fear, he lifted his violin and began to sing, “Am I a soldier of the Cross?” God used that moment to open hearts and doors for the Gospel.

After Dr. Scott died on the field, Anna Kay Scott did not quit. She became a medical doctor and continued serving Christ for decades in China, pouring out her life for souls.

Here’s the lesson: the call of God is costly, but it is glorious. And when a man or woman says, “I will go,” there is no telling what doors God may open for the Gospel.
