The Olivetan Benedictine Sisters in Jonesboro are hosting a one-day spiritual retreat for oblates and guests at Holy Angels Convent on Saturday, September 26 from 8:30 am to 3:30 pm.

The theme of the retreat is the Liturgy of the Hours and will be led by Fr. Cody Eveld, Associate Pastor of Blessed Sacrament Church in Jonesboro.

The retreat schedule includes Mass, adoration, talks, praying the Liturgy of the Hours, confession, and social time. Meals are provided.

For attendees traveling from a distance, limited accommodations are available at convent on Friday and Saturday evening.

Institution of Acolyte

We offer our prayers and joyful congratulations to parishioner Danny Bercher, who was formally instituted into the Ministry of Acolyte by Bishop Anthony B. Taylor this past weekend. This marks a significant milestone for Danny as a candidate in the Diocese of Little Rock Diaconate Formation Class. We extend our deepest gratitude to Danny and his wife, Anita, for their continuous "yes" to God's call. Please keep Danny in your prayers as he takes this vital step closer to the Permanent Diaconate.

✨✝️ The Ministry of Acolyte ✝️✨
An Acolyte is specially instituted to serve at the altar and assist the priest and deacon during the Holy Mass. With reverence and care, he prepares the altar, arranges the sacred vessels, and helps the faithful enter more deeply into the mystery of the Eucharist.

An acolyte may also assist in distributing Holy Communion and support the parish’s liturgical life through prayerful service, devotion, and example. This ministry forms the heart of a future deacon, teaching humility, leadership, and love for the Church’s worship.

A feature-length documentary on Blessed Stanley Rother, endorsed by Bishop Anthony B. Taylor, will be showing across Arkansas Aug. 25-27 in English and Spanish. The movie, “American Martyr: The Stanley Rother Story,” narrated by actor Martin Sheen, tells the story of the Oklahoma priest who gave his life for the flock he served in Guatemala.

You can watch it at 7 p.m. Aug. 25-26 in English in Little Rock, North Little Rock, Conway, Cabot, Rogers, Fort Smith, Fayetteville and Searcy.
