In the next session, we continued with the three tenses of Salvation, realizing that they are not three separate Salvations but rather one Salvation in three stages. Verse 23 of chapter one says:
"For you have been born again, not of perishable seed, but of imperishable, through the living and enduring word of God." Have been... past tense... referring to the moment when we reached out to Jesus, asking forgiveness and taking His hand in this new relationship. Peter is comparing that moment to the planting of a seed. Not perishable, but imperishable. Our moment of Salvation was similar to God planting Salvation's seed. Now that it's planted, it's time for us to cultivate the soil by getting rid of the contaminants and replenishing the soil of our hearts with the nutrients from the Word of God. It's time to replace our old habits with new healthy ones. It's time for "being saved" to commence. Partnering with the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, we let them work in us to help us transform into the blessings the world around us needs to see. (Maybe not wants to see, at first.)
So, What areas in your life still need transforming?
How is God using His Word to direct these changes?
Feel free to respond.
