You are warmly invited to participate in a dialogue that will directly contribute to the Climate COP30 taking place in Brazil this November.
Come to the Petteruti Lounge on Thursday, October 23 at 5:30pm!
We will discuss questions about climate action asked by the Brazilian government. Afterward, we will send the collected ideas and suggestions to the Global Ethical Stocktake (GES) Circle which is gathering the key points of these dialogues taking place all over the world and will present them to the national leaders at COP30.
"The Global Ethical Stocktake Circle and the Presidency of COP30 invite religious communities, artists, Indigenous peoples and local communities, youth, scientists, businesspeople, women, activists, and policymakers from the six continental regions of the planet to reflect on the values, behaviors, and responsibilities that must be transformed so that the commitments made at the UN Climate Conferences become a reality."
We will focus on the following questions prepared by the GES:
1. Why do we continue with production and consumption models that harm the most vulnerable and are not aligned with the 1.5ºC Mission?
2. What ideas and values could inspire to mobilize more people, leaders, corporations, companies, and nations to combating the climate crisis?
3. What traditions, histories, or practices (cultural, spiritual) from your community teach us to live in greater harmony with nature? How can we mobilize more people?

If you want to learn more about these dialogues taking place all over the world, you can download the GES toolkit prepared by the Brazilian government:

Admission free, refreshments will be served.
Looking forward to hearing your ideas!

The walk is an opportunity for people of various faiths
and backgrounds to share a common experience in a
beautiful natural setting and provides space for
peaceful dialogue and learning about the beauty and
order of the natural world and each other.
Saturday, May 3rd from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.
(rain date of Sunday, May 4th, same time). The
Sachuest Point Wildlife Refuge is located at 769
Sachuest Point Road, Middletown, RI.
People of all ages are welcome. The trail we’ve
chosen is wide and flat, is generally completed in less
than an hour, and offers some of the best oceanfront
views in Rhode Island. Because the reserve is home
to many species of precious birds and other life, dogs
are not allowed, even when leashed.
No RSVP is needed, and the event is free. As we walk,
we’ll have time available for participants who may
wish to share spiritual insights and their knowledge
about native plants and animals.

Comparing the beauty and importance of diversity in both human society and the natural world: "To acknowledge humanity’s oneness is not to suppress variations of expression, culture, or social organization. The principle of unity contains within it the essential concept of diversity; indeed, this is what distinguishes it from uniformity. In the natural world, systems flourish through the interaction of highly diversified elements. Differences between various components can enhance the functioning of the whole and strengthen the resilience of the overall system."

We had a great walk yesterday. Despite the rainy weather, 14 people came together representing Jewish, Baha'i, and several Christian communities. We learned about nature such as bird songs and the invasive Autumn Olive bush, and contemplated spiritual reflections from different faiths which were - not surprisingly - in harmony, and all supporting each other.
Thank you, Bill Patenaude, for taking pictures. :-)

THE WALK WILL BE TOMORROW! Will you join us?
A knowledgeable person from the Carter Preserve will provide some interesting insights about the plants and animals we will see. There will also be brief spiritual reflections from representatives of three different faiths.

Experience the beauty of nature together with like minded people! We hope that many of you will join us!

Common Ground is the highly anticipated sequel to the juggernaut success documentary, Kiss the Ground, which touched over 1 billion people globally and inspired the USDA to put $20 billion toward soil health.

Join the solution-driven movement of regenerative leaders as they make a case for soil health across North America and beyond. We can all find our ‘common ground’ to heal the soil, our health, and the planet. No action is too small.
