The Book of Haggai begins in the rubble of neglected worship and misplaced priorities, but God’s word to his people is still the same: “I am with you.”
As Northtown Trinity approaches four years as a church plant, Haggai 1 becomes more than ancient history. It becomes an opportunity for self-relfection. Israel had returned from exile, laid the temple foundation, then drifted into distraction and delay. Life moved on while the house of God sat unfinished in the middle of the city.
This sermon opens a new series through Haggai by asking what faithful rebuilding looks like in a season where comfort, discouragement, and routine can slowly pull a church off mission. Along the way, we hear why delayed obedience is still disobedience, how God sometimes frustrates our plans to expose disordered priorities, and why rebuilding always begins with repentance before it leads to renewal.
More than anything, this message centers on God’s promise to his people: “I am with you.” The goal is not bigger numbers or polished ministry success, but renewed dependence on Christ, faithful worship, and a church stirred again for the vision of bringing Christ to our City.
