Today was another busy day, and one that I can say I am so proud of the dedication and hard work of our congregation and community team.
Today as it was pouring down rain, I pulled up to see some of our neighbors who are living in a tent by the church being deluged by non stop rain. We were able to supply them a tarp to cover their tent…hopefully they stay dry if this storm continues!
After worship our Food Pantry crew still were able to feed 19 families (thank you Ellen, Garret, Tina, and Emet for stocking and serving even in the wet weather!)
Hospitality was delicious with a generous donation by Ronald and Tom, rounded out with some leftovers from Gio and Seb’s Labor Day picnic (and we made sure that those who needed some take home bags had them!)
Then it was time for Q***r TAY Drop in Day and we were a tad concerned that we weren’t going to be able to be of service due to the rain, but…we were able to provide hot showers to those who were in the tent; supply clothes and toiletries for 3 youth; do 4 loads of laundry; and help a young man who has been living on the streets for way too long get situated for a day of resourcing on Tuesday (we are crossing our fingers that he gets a 3 day emergency bed on Tues!)
None of this would be possible without your support, especially those who were there today: Christina, Janice, Enza, Emet, Tina, Madi, Jeffrey, Jessica and Abdon. Thank you for making an otherwise dreary day one filled with sunshine! (Oh, and btw, in a matter of an hour, Enza raised over $170 for new underwear on their Instagram from their fabulously Q***r artist community!! )
Wishing all a great week of connection and service!
