Tomorrow, Sunday August 29th, 2021 at 4pm, Island Arts will be sponsoring a program of 19th Century American Charm in Song and Dance at the Grand Isle Church.

The concert features Allison Steinmetz and tenor Cameron Steinmetz with keyboardist Artis Wodehouse on harpsichord. The Williston-based married duo, soprano Allison and tenor Cameron Steinmetz will sing popular tunes from 19th century America and recreate two of the iconic social dances of the period, the waltz and the polka. Accompanying the Steinmetzes will be keyboardist Artis Wodehouse, who will play on an 1864 foot-pump melodeon, a revival bentside spinet harpsichord, and the modern piano. Admission is $20 in advance, $25 at the door. A donation will be made to the church.

Thanks to all the CSA members who came out to their open farm day! We had a lot of fun showing you your farm and doing the tomato taste test. The winners are, in the slicing tomato category: a tie! Even votes for marmalade and pink Berkeley tie dye. And in the cherry tomato category, a runaway win for my own personal favorite, blush.

One step forward and two steps back. At least that's the way it seems these days when it comes to group events and Covid. CIDER held our first in person lunch at "The Neighbors" this month and plan to hold our second on the 25th. (RSVP by Friday the 20th) On the other hand, we have decided to cancel the Pig Roast scheduled for Sat. 9/11 and the folks in North Hero cancelled the senior picnic planned for August 27th.
