Local Baptist Church founded in 1802, where they gathered at the Hardware River in Charlottesville, VA Sunday mornings to hear the Lord's words under the name Pine Grove Church. In 1873 the church decided to rename the church due to the new Hardware House was established. Now we are located at 3452 Red Hill Rd, Charlottesville, VA. Carolyn Brown, Preaching 11AM - 12PM, by Pastor David Morris. Pastor Morris has been preaching for over 20years, 7 with us at Hardware Baptist. He enlightens our Sundays, as well as every day of the week, with Trivia Questions for the guests and members. We celebrate and honor one of our Special Members, Charlotte Diggers Moon also known as, Lottie Moon, she was born at Viewmont, which is not far from Hardware. She was a member at Charlottesville Baptist, also known as First Baptist, until in 1862 she moved to Pine Grove at the Hardware Meeting House. Here she taught Sunday School for a year until she was appointed as a missionary by the Foreign Missionary Board where she served over seas in China starting September 1, 1873. Sadly, Moon passed away in 1912 but her legend, mission, and beliefs still live on, especially through Hardware Baptist.
