Happy Black Friday. I hope everyone had a wonderful and amazing Thanksgiving with family and friends!
Below is my year-end newsletter to let you know what Catalyst has been doing in the world! Thanks so much for your prayers and support!
Dear Family and Friends of Catalyst For Africa,
We are praying in this season of Advent that you will find the power of the Holy Spirit moving through you, the love of the Father transforming you and the very essence of Jesus abiding in you!
We are so excited to announce that Pamela Fox Mozley is now an affiliate with New International and will slowly be transitioning from her job with the Florida Statewide Guardian ad Litem Office as a Certified Child Advocate Manager to working full time as a cross-cultural worker with Catalyst. Her focus will be on women, youth and children. She will fill a great need in our organization to assist spouses and women in leadership, discipleship and mentoring, as well as empowering youth and leaders who have a passion for ministry.
Here is a brief recap of where Catalyst for Africa has served in 2023. Internationally we have ministered in Malta, Kenya, Ghana, Uganda, Dubai (UAE) and Senegal. Stateside we have engaged in ministry in Florida, Georgia, Texas, and Indiana through prayer ministry, teaching, preaching and participating in Missions Conferences.
Here are some highlights from some of our African leaders who live in Kenya, Niger, Democratic Republic of Congo and Senegal:
Harrison Githu (Kenya) has been working with us since 2013 when we began Catalyst for Africa. He states, “The principles of Catalyst for Africa have helped me to be a better husband, father and Christian leader. Going small and going deep has changed my focus on ministry. One of my highlights has been reconnecting with my childhood friend, Charles Wangondu, who runs T-Falls Foundation. They are helping to rehabilitate schools in our home region. By sharing the principles of Catalyst for Africa with the leaders and teachers of these schools, it has strengthened and enhanced their leadership skills and changed the focus of their ministry.”
Rev. Panlieba Ouoba is a Baptist pastor in Niamey, Niger, where Islam is over 95% in the country. God has given him a vision of not only shepherding his sheep in Niamey but also a vision of raising up a new generation of young people through the game of soccer. He reflected, “Catalyst has helped us to raise up a group of Christian coaches in a predominantly Muslim country. We are instilling the four core values in our coach’s own personal lives as well as in the lives of these Muslim children who come to learn soccer skills. The principals of Catalyst are changing the way we lead our churches, our families, our coaches and the lives of these young men.”
Silvain Mukeretwa has been partnering with us since 2022. He started YR Africa several years ago and his ministry focuses on Youth at Risk and they concentrate on holistic ministry for families and Christian leaders throughout Eastern Congo. He tells the story of a family that was attacked in July of 2021 in the region of Rwangoma by the ADF (Allied Democratic Forces). Kanyunzu is the leader of his family and on that night in July Silvain reflects, “When the rebels attacked their house, the man (Kanyunzu) preceded to run. His wife wanted to do so but they shot her in the hand and chest and the rebels took away their children (2 boys and 1 girl). The wife was about to die. They took her to Beni General Hospital, and finally transferred her to a hospital in Goma. After a couple of months, their daughter who was taken into the forest came back, but with so many physical and psychological problems.” Silvain and his team at YR Africa have ministered to scores of families who have been affected by these terrorists.
When I led a conference in October of 2022, we prayed for a young lady whose twin sister was also taken by rebels and she had not seen her since July of 2021. I can’t fathom what Kanyunzu felt as a husband and a father to see your wife shot and your children taken from you and from this young woman whose sister is still missing. Yet, Silvain was there to not only bring financial and emotional support but also spiritual influence into Kanyunzu’s family’s life. Catalyst For Africa works hand in hand with men like Silvain who are changing the world in Jesus name, one relationship at a time.
Having just returned from Senegal with my good friend and colleague, Jim Beise, we had one of the most fruitful and spirit led conferences since we began Catalyst in 2013. Valentin Iloga has been one of our key leaders from the beginning. He serves as a pastor and mentor in Dakar, Senegal. By intention, we only had 12 leaders and many of them were under 30 years of age. They showed a fresh hunger when we worshipped, they shook the throne room of God when we were interceding and they were open and transparent when we shared our personal lives together. Valentin shared with me at the end of this conference, “Michael, we have done many Catalyst conferences together but this one has topped them all. This wasn’t a conference, it was a move from God. I believe the focus of CFA is not just to train men and women but to cast a vision that will create a movement of transformation across Africa.” As I was leaving from the airport, Valentin shouted to me, “Michael, you can count on me. I am a Catalyst For Africa.”
There were so many ministry highlights in 2023, but the one that stands out the most was a short term trip with a team from Grace Church, Cape Coral, FL to Ghana, West Africa in August. We saw God move in mighty ways as our team, along with local Ghanaian pastors baptized over 100 new believers in one day in a remote village near Nalerigu. Our team also ministered to and prayed with dozens of women confined to what was once referred to as a Witch’s Village. These women have been separated from their families, ostracized by their communities and labeled as witches, often due to mental health issues or family conflict. Still they expressed joy and gratitude as they worshipped God in the midst of their suffering. It was a privilege to see God fill these women with HIS spirit and give them hope in the midst of very difficult times.
We hope and pray you have seen the heart of who we are through these stories. Thank you for partnering with us and praying for us. We are excited about what 2024 holds for us. We will celebrate our 10 year anniversary in Spring of 2024 in Togo. We are expecting over 20 leaders from 17 different countries to join us. Would you consider giving an extra gift to help our leaders to attend this continental gathering? We could not do what we do without your gifts and more importantly your prayers.
Wishing you, our friends and partners a joyful Christmas and a blessed New Year from all of our leaders in Africa! Together we are changing the world in Jesus name, one relationship at a time.
God Bless you!
Michael and Pam Mozley
P.S. If you support and believe in all that CFA is doing to change the world in Jesus name, one relationship at a time, please take a few minutes to forward this email to your like-minded friends and family.
