OCIA - We will begin our next OCIA sessions on Wednesday, September 9, 2026.

We meet Wednesday nights in the St. Nicholas of Myra parish hall 6:30pm – 8:00 pm.

What is OCIA?”

OCIA stands for the Order of Christian Initiation of Adults.

It is the Catholic Church’s process by which non-Catholics and adult Catholics are gradually introduced to the Catholic faith through formation, instruction, and reception of the sacraments of initiation: Baptism, Confirmation, and Eucharist.

It is designed as a lifelong journey of faith, emphasizing spiritual formation, prayer, and moral development rather than simply completing a series of rites. The sessions are not set up to be school classroom type of sessions, but more of an Evangelizing Catechesis where team and candidates build community relationships and walk together through the process.

Sessions usually consist of a brief video concerning some aspect of our faith followed by lively discussion with team sharing how the topic has played a role in their own faith journey and allows candidates to open up and ask questions as well.

We are called to evangelize and spread the Faith in the Gospel of Matthew 28:19-20 “Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, until the end of the age.”

What better way to live this out than to volunteer as team for our OCIA program! You only need to be a practicing Catholic and willing to share with others how it has shaped your own faith life. Many hands make light work, so there is no need to worry about having to make every session, We also get to learn more about our faith along with the candidates. These sessions are also open to the greater parish community.

“Iron is sharpened by iron; one person sharpens another.” (Proverbs 27:17)

If you are looking for a boost in your faith, or simply to learn more about it, please feel free to attend as many sessions as you wish. You will always be welcomed!

If you are searching and interested in learning more about the Catholic Faith and receiving the Sacraments, or are a practicing Catholic and would like to volunteer as team, please contact the parish office at: St. Nicholas of Myra at (508) 822-1425 or Annunciation of the Lord at (508) 823-2521.

We will begin our next OCIA sessions on Wednesday, September 9, 2026.

We meet Wednesday nights in the St. Nicholas of Myra parish hall 6:30pm – 8:00 pm.

We warmly welcome Seminarian David Ferrucci to our parish this summer. He will be serving and learning alongside Father David Deston as part of his formation for the priesthood.

We are blessed to have him with us and invite everyone to make him feel at home and keep him in your prayers.🙏

David Ferrucci Bio:

I was born in Boston and now live on Cape Cod. I am from a large family with six siblings. I attended High School at Xaverian Brothers in Westwood, Mass. I graduated from Embry Riddle Aeronautical University in Daytona Beach, Florida, with a bachelor's degree in Aeronautical Science.

Prior to entering the seminary, I spent my career flying airplanes. I have accumulated over 24,500 flight hours. I have spent the last 27 years flying for a major airline based at New York.

I always felt a tug or an attraction to the role of a priest, the role that brings people closer to Christ. I began seriously discerning by spending more time in prayer with the Blessed Sacrament and self-reflection. I have had a commitment to the daily Mass, I would seek a Catholic Church wherever work would take me - London, Madrid, Milan, whatever layover city I was assigned.

My parents were very faithful; they taught us virtues and how to love the Faith, and the simple things. My siblings and their families are a big part of my life.

“Let it Begin with Me”

The 85th Annual Catholic Appeal begins May 1. Since 1942, the Appeal has helped support and bring peace to people at all stages of life – from children to youth to parents to the elderly. Gifts to the Catholic Appeal sustain the work of our Diocese, including numerous agencies, programs, and ministries that provide food and shelter, educate children and adults, and meet the physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of thousands. We encourage you to support the Appeal as generously as you can. You can make a one-time gift or a pledge with convenient payments throughout the year. You can give by mail, use a contribution card located in church, or make your gift or pledge online.
