Dearest friends,
We are heartbroken to share the news of the closure of Two Rivers Church. The closure of our beloved church is not what we hoped for or expected, and we are all deeply grieving the loss of our community.
From the very beginning of the church, we have been saying, “You Are Beautiful.” You. Just as you are, all that you are. Many of us began to believe that for the first time here at Two Rivers. Many of us came to know for the first time that we are beloved by God and that we are welcome in God’s family. Many of us found other Christians who cared deeply about the things that we care about and began to feel less alone. We know that for many of you, Two Rivers was either your first experience with a church or the last chance you were giving a church, and as such, this news is especially heavy.
We pray that this was just the beginning of your journey with Jesus, your journey into beloved-ness. We pray that as we grieve and heal from this, we won’t give up on the ideals that we shared here. We pray that you will hold onto this truth for all your days and in all seasons of your life, including this one:
“Who will separate us from Christ’s love? Will we be separated by trouble, or distress, or harassment, or famine, or nakedness, or danger, or sword? … But in all these things we win a sweeping victory through the one who loved us. I’m convinced that nothing can separate us from God’s love in Christ Jesus our Lord: not death or life, not angels or rulers, not present things or future things, not powers or height or depth, or any other thing that is created.” (Romans 8:35, 37-39)
Even in our grief, we celebrate the gift of Two Rivers Church and everyone who has played a part in its life and work. Thank you for being a part of it.
If you would like pastoral care, a friend to talk to, or a recommendation for a faith community to try out, please let us know.
