Hello church family! I want to thank you all from the bottom of my heart for all your well wishes, congratulations, kind words and tons of love concerning my graduation a few weeks ago with my MDiv (Masters of Divinity) from Luther Seminary in Minneapolis Minneapolis. I am so excited that after 5 years of working as a full-time teacher, part-time seminary student on-line and in person, a part-time pastor here at Metropolitan Community Church of Charleston and extensive travel that God has blessed me and helped me get to the finish line! Thank you to all my cheerleaders, church family, friends and my family of choice for keeping me prayed up and offering me grace when I was overwhelmed and exhausted. God is good, all the time!!!

My next step is ordination and I will post when that blessed event is scheduled.

Once again, thank you for all your help!

Scripture: Matthew 9:9-13,18-26
Passing along, Jesus saw a man at his work collecting taxes. His name was Matthew. Jesus said, “Come along with me.” Matthew stood up and followed him.
Later when Jesus was eating supper at Matthew’s house with his close followers, a lot of disreputable characters came and joined them. When the Pharisees saw him keeping this kind of company, they had a fit, and lit into Jesus’ followers. “What kind of example is this from your Teacher, acting cozy with crooks and misfits?”
Jesus, overhearing, shot back, “Who needs a doctor: the healthy or the sick? Go figure out what this Scripture means: ‘I’m after mercy, not religion.’ I’m here to invite outsiders, not coddle insiders.”
While he was saying this, a synagogue leader came and knelt before him and said, “My daughter has just died. But come and put your hand on her, and she will live.” Jesus got up and went with him, and so did his disciples.
Just then a woman who had been subject to bleeding for twelve years came up behind him and touched the edge of his cloak. She said to herself, “If I only touch his cloak, I will be healed.”
Jesus turned and saw her. “Take heart, daughter,” he said, “your faith has healed you.” And the woman was healed at that moment.
When Jesus entered the synagogue leader’s house and saw the noisy crowd and people playing pipes, he said, “Go away. The girl is not dead but asleep.” But they laughed at him. After the crowd had been put outside, he went in and took the girl by the hand, and she got up. News of this spread through all that region. May we be blessed by this Reading.

Congratulations go out to Pastor Felicia Pritchett on attaining her Master of Divinity at Luther Seminary on Sunday May 31, 2026, in Chicago. Everyone, be sure to honor her for the hard work she has done to achieve this goal over the last 5 years while also being a high school educator and pastor to a church that requires hours of driving to attend. The Lord is good. HIP-HIP-HORRAY!
