Notre Dame Church - North Caldwell, NJ

Notre Dame Church - North Caldwell, NJ Notre Dame was founded in 1962. Fr. John Murphy, the founding pastor had to find land and funds for a new church, rectory and school.

At first a home served as rectory and a temporary site for daily celebration of the Eucharist. Sunday Masses were celebrated in the auditorium of West Essex High School. Notre Dame with attached school was dedicated on May 25, 1965. At that time there were approximately 550 families. The parish has grown to over 1800 families today. In 2002 the rectory was sold and a new modular priest’s residence

was constructed on a knoll to the right of the church. The vacated school building was renovated and became the Notre Dame Parish Center. The parish offices as well as a number of meeting rooms provide needed space for an ever growing parish community.

We loved welcoming our families at today’s Meet & Greet and spending time together during Children’s Liturgy of the Word. It was a beautiful morning filled with faith, friendship, smiles, and community! ✝️💕

This weekend is the Twenty-Second Sunday in Ordinary Time.

Saturday, August 29, the parish office will be closed. It will reopen on Monday August 31 at 9 am. Confession Saturday is at 4 pm in church, and Mass is at 5 pm.

Sunday August 30, after the 10 am Mass, Family Faith is having a Meet and Greet for all families. Please see the bulletin for more information.

Infant/Toddler and Children's Liturgy of the Word resumes this Sunday. More details can be found in the bulletin.

There's still time to donate to Christine's Kitchen who's next hosting day is September 12, and to Family Promise of Essex who is accepting specified donations up until September 13. Please see the bulletin for both organizations' needs. Thank you!

“We’re always encouraging PCLs to go back to prayer, to make sure their ministry is Christ-centered.”

The Office For Lifelong Faith Formation brought together 19 new parish catechetical leaders for the “Essentials for New PCLs” program.

From preparing programs and events to evangelization, sacramental preparation and accompanying persons with disabilities, the new PCLs explored the many ways they are called to serve the faithful.
