This Summer event is returning on Thursday, August 27. All adults of both parishes are invited to join Fr. Matt at The Fort Restaurant & Bar (80 W 4th St, Rush City). Gather at 6:00pm, talk by Fr. Matt on the 7 Deadly Sins with Q&A at 6:30pm, and then hang out afterwards.

Classes begin in just a few short weeks on Wednesday, September 16 with a parent and youth evening for children and youth from Pre-K through 9th grade. 10th grade students will complete their Confirmation program on Sunday evenings. Anointing Mass – Wednesday, September 2, 5:00pm
On Wednesday, September 2 at 5:00pm at St. Gregory's, Fr. Matt will offer an Anointing Mass. The Sacrament of the
Anointing of the Sick may be administered to Catholics who are in danger of death -- through old age (around 75+), a serious medical condition, or preparing for a serious medical procedure including one that uses general anesthesia. Those who receive the Sacrament at the Mass will need to give their name for record keeping. You may call the Parish Office to give your name ahead of time, or sign up at the Mass. Questions may be directed to Fr. Matt ([email protected]).
Catholic Watchmen Social – Thursday, September 3
All men are invited to the Catholic Watchmen Social on Thursday, September 3 at 7:00pm at the firepit behind the St. Gregory’s and the Rectory. In case of inclement weather, they will meet in the Parish Hall. The Catholic Watchmen meet at 7:00pm on the first Thursday of every month September through May. We will have special guest speakers starting in October.
Grandparents’ Day and Feast of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary – Tuesday, September 8
September 8th is the annual Feast of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary (i.e. Mary's birthday; note: 9 months after the Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception on December 8th). This also serves as Grandparents Day in the Catholic Church. You are invited to a Word and Communion service at 8:30am that day (Tue. 9/8) led by Deacon Kevin. At the end of the service, Deacon Kevin will bless all the grandparents in attendance.
Booya and Fall Festival – Coming Soon! – September 27
The 45th annual Booya and Fall Festival at St. Gregory’s is coming up soon on Sunday, September 27, 11:30am-2:00pm. How will you help with our biggest annual event?
Raffle tickets are now available for pick up in the narthex. Books of tickets have been assigned by name to registered parishioners. Additional books are available if you need more or don’t see your name. *NEW* this year – We are offering cash incentives for selling tickets. You could win $50 if you sell the grand prize winning ticket, or $25 if you sell the most tickets. We could raise $12,500 for our church if we sell all 2,500 tickets!
We have many opportunities to donate your time or goods. The sign up boards for food donations and volunteers roles will be in the narthex beginning this weekend. We are also seeking donations for these booths:
Silent Auction – We welcome parishioner-created baskets of any theme, for any age, or items donated from businesses or your place of employment. St. Gregory’s tax ID is available from the office if needed for tax purposes.
W**e Bottle Booth – Seeking 100 bottles of w**e. $10 per chance to win a mystery bottle of w**e.
Country Store – Fresh produce, craft items, homemade or canned food items, knick knacks, small toys, collectibles, whatever fills your heart! Seeking small to medium items to be sold at a set price.
Bottle Booth – Bottles of anything except alcohol. (Think lotion, hot sauce, Chick-fil-A sauce, nail polish, mustard. $1 per chance to win a random bottle of something.
Sacred Heart Fall Festival – Sunday, September 13, 11am-2pm
Visit Sacred Heart to enjoy food, live music, kids’ games, silent auction, and Country Store. Food will be the ever-delicious Brass Rail chicken. Raffle tickets are available now from the Sacred Heart office or after Sunday Mass.
OCIA/Catholicism 101 – Classes open to all
"OCIA/Catholicism 101" class is now open to all adults--those hoping to become Catholic as well as parishioners who would like to learn more about their Catholic faith. The group will generally meet every other Saturday (until Easter) from 9:30 to 11:00am in St. Gregory's Parish Hall. The first class is tentatively scheduled for Saturday, September 26th from 9:30 to 11:00am in the Romero House (note: location change). Contact Fr. Deacon Discernment Day – Saturday, September 26, 8:15am-5pm
All men of our parish are invited to attend Deacon Discernment Day at the St. Paul Seminary. The day includes Mass, prayer, reflections, lunch, Q&A, and more. It is intended for single or married men, and their wives (if applicable), between the ages of 25 and 59. He must be a U.S. citizen or a resident alien with a green card and a permanent resident in the Archdiocese of St Paul and Minneapolis. Seeking Fluent (or Semi-Fluent) Spanish Speaker ¿Usted Habla Español?
We would like to make St. Gregory’s a home for everyone, including those for whom Spanish is their primary language. Do you or someone you know have fluency (as least to a degree) in Spanish? Fr. Matt has some intermediate Spanish, but it would be helpful to have a parishioner available who could at least translate for things like Baptism requests. Please contact the office if you are willing to help.
