June 1st, 1776 brings us another Revolutionary Moment.

https://youtu.be/MSGEanc07gU

By June of 1776, the question facing the Continental Congress was no longer simply whether Britain had treated the colonies unfairly.

The real question had become:

Should the colonies become independent?

And one of the loudest voices urging independence was John Adams of Massachusetts.

Adams believed delay itself had become dangerous. He spent long hours persuading hesitant delegates that the moment for decision had arrived.

History often remembers dramatic speeches. But many turning points are shaped quietly through persistence, conviction, and difficult conversations behind closed doors.

Scripture says:

“Be strong and of good courage; do not fear nor be afraid…” — Joshua 1:9

Courage is not the absence of uncertainty. It is the willingness to move forward anyway.

This Sunday at Capstone Baptist Church, we’ll continue in Acts and see how the apostles responded with courage even under growing pressure and opposition. We’d love to have you worship with us Sunday at 10:45.

How does the events of 1776 apply to you today in 2026? Watch and see.

It’s time for another Revolutionary Moment for May 29th, 1776.

In the spring of 1776, the colonies were still deeply different from one another.

Different economies.

Different churches.

Different priorities.

And yet, slowly, they were beginning to unite around the belief that liberty required courage and sacrifice.

One man helping quietly hold that unity together was Benjamin Franklin. By 1776, Franklin was already an international figure—printer, inventor, diplomat, and statesman. But what made him especially valuable during the Revolution was his ability to steady tense moments and help divided people continue working together.

Scripture reminds us:

“Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons of God.” — Matthew 5:9

Strong people are not always loud people. Sometimes strength is found in wisdom, patience, and the ability to help others stand together.

This Sunday at Capstone Baptist Church, we’ll continue in Acts chapter 4 and see how truth and reverence shaped the early church. Join us at 10:45. There is a place for you here.

Hi, Phil Steadman here for your May 27th, 1776 Revolutionary Moment.

https://youtu.be/9r3IUYJO3Y0

By late May of 1776, the colonies were changing rapidly.

A year earlier, many Americans still hoped reconciliation with Britain might somehow be possible. But now royal authority was beginning to collapse across parts of the colonies.

In Virginia, Governor Lord Dunmore had already fled Williamsburg months earlier and was operating from British ships offshore. In Massachusetts, General Thomas Gage had effectively lost control after Lexington and Concord.

What once seemed unthinkable was slowly becoming reality.

And often, that is how history changes—not all at once, but little by little, as people realize they can no longer stay where they are.

Scripture says:

“You shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.” — John 8:32

Freedom always begins when people are willing to face the truth.

This Sunday at Capstone Baptist Church, we’ll continue our study through the Book of Acts as we look at Acts 4 and the importance of truth, holiness, and integrity inside the early church.

We would love to have you join us at 10:45.

Risen: Gritty Reality of Our World

The movie Risen, (with Joseph Fiennes), is not a movie for children's Sunday School. It portrays the reality of first century Palestine and yet, at the same time, presents hope to humanity, to you. Watch and see why.

Revolutionary Moment: May 22, 2026

https://youtu.be/DstP5-1VM7c

We’re continuing to reflect on these Revolutionary Moments where ideas matter.

By late May of 1776, something strange was happening.

Independence hadn’t been declared.

Not yet. But it was already being lived.

Authority was shifting. Responsibility was growing.

People were stepping into something new, before it had even been named.

And that’s often how real change happens.

It doesn’t begin with a statement; It begins with a step.

The Bible says: “Stand fast… in the liberty by which Christ has made us free.”

Freedom isn’t just announced.

It’s lived.

This Sunday, we’ll be in Acts where lives are changed—and people begin to see what real freedom looks like.

We’d love to have you with us. Sunday morning, 10:45 at Capstone Baptist Church in North Bennington, VT.

Revolutionary Moment: May 20, 2026

We are continuing to reflect on how the past ties into the future.

Not Waiting Anymore

In North Carolina, leaders gathered and made something clear.

They were done waiting.

Through what we now call the Mecklenburg Resolves, they said, in effect that British authority no longer rules here.

Historians may debate the wording.

But not the moment.

There comes a point when waiting ends and conviction becomes action.

The Bible says: “We ought to obey God rather than men.”

That’s not a loud statement. But it’s a clear one.

This Sunday, we’ll be in Acts where people are called not just to listen but to turn.

Join us at 10:45.

In this episode we continue to reflect on these Revolutionary moments…

The Weight of Words

In May of 1776, there were no speeches for the public.

No announcements.

Just conversations and careful ones at that.

Men like Thomas Jefferson understood something…

Once words are written down they don’t come back.

Before a declaration is made it has to be formed through thought.

Chosen because words shape the future.

The Bible says: “Death and life are in the power of the tongue.”

What we say matters more than we think.

This Sunday at Capstone Baptist Church, we’ll continue in Acts where a simple word is spoken—and a life changes.
Join us at 10:45.
