Catholic Bishops of the United States will consecrate the nation to the Sacred Heart of Jesus—entrusting the country to His divine mercy, love, and kingship.

This event will take place on June 11, 2026 during the bishops' Spring Plenary Assembly in Orlando, Florida; on the eve of the Solemnity of the Sacred Heart of Jesus.

Why Now? The U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB) chose this occasion as a spiritually significant way to mark America's 250th birthday. They view the Sacred Heart as an antidote to modern superficiality, offering a message of redeeming love and communion amidst an era of intense political division and the "epidemic of loneliness".

The Spiritual Goal: Consecration is not a mere political statement or an attempt to blend church and state; in Catholic theology, it is an act of surrendering to Christ's love and mercy. It acts as a public acknowledgment that human laws and institutions need the guidance of God's providence to truly flourish.

On June 11, the U.S. Catholic Bishops will consecrate America to the Sacred Heart of Jesus. 🇺🇸

First Saturday Mass is a beautiful devotion first celebrated at St. John’s on Saturday, November 5, 2022.
This 9:00 am Mass has remained and offers Mass goers the opportunity to receive 3 Sacraments (Anointing, Holy Communion, and Confession). Adoration and Benediction follow Mass.
We are so blessed to have this opportunity in our parish community.

“The best laid plans of mice and men often go awry.”
-Robert Burns, To a Mouse

I’ve always had a fondness for this quote from the Scottish poet, Robert Burns, because it has been proven true in my development of plans and programs, especially as a priest and bishop. Despite serious preparation and dedicated planning, what I wanted to get done so often seems to fall apart and remains undone. This is especially true this weekend as we celebrate the great Feast of the Most Holy Body and Blood of Jesus Christ.

Cardinals unseen but heard chirped loudly as Fr. Kevin said Mass at St John the Baptist Cemetery today—a Memorial Day Mass to remember those who died while serving. Despite the early morning rain, the air was a little chilly but pleasant.
Thank you to all who came out today.
