Welcome
Welcome to our site! There are many beliefs about God, but knowing God is way more important than the opinions we hold about God. We believe that God is not some detached deity up in the sky who looks down on us with mild interest. God is involved in our lives, in this world. We believe that God is so involved in this world that He actually became a human being and that human we know by th
e name of Jesus. Jesus lived in the Middle-East, way back in the first century. He was tempted like us, experienced pain and loss like us. The whole human experience – Jesus lived it. Jesus is God's most vivid revelation of who God is and what the heart of God is like. When people looked at Jesus when he was walking around the deserts of Palestine, they were literally looking at the face of God. When we read about Jesus in the Bible we're reading about God himself. When people encounter Jesus today, they encounter God. People believe a lot of things about Jesus and we think that some of those beliefs are very important, but getting to know God personally is more important than having all the right answers. Mission, Values, Vision
“I am the vine, you are the branches; if you abide in me you will bear much fruit.” (John 15:5)
Our MISSION
In response to the grace of God, our mission is to grow a community of fully devoted followers of Jesus Christ to produce abundant spiritual fruit for the Kingdom of God. Our VALUES
In order to achieve our mission we:
Glorify God in worship and in spiritual practices
Gather in fellowship in the love of the Lord and Savior. Gain understanding in what it means to be fully-devoted followers of Jesus Christ
Give our time, money and talents whenever we are able. To work diligently in our communities and for our communities in the Cause of Christ
At First Congregational, we do this through:
Authentic warm hospitality
A humble, servant heart
A creative, engaging spirit
An faith that is relevant at any age or stage of life and living
Respect for our long history of Christian ministry
Our VISION
Our vision is to be a dynamic, Christian community of faith where an ever increasing number of people from diverse cultural backgrounds are called to fully embrace a relationship with Jesus Christ. With God as our foundation, and with respect and appreciation for our rich history, we aspire to provide excellent, opportunities for people to obey the commands of our Savior to love God with all one’s heart, soul, mind and strength, and to love one’s neighbor as oneself. Through scripture, love and faith we become a church of The Good News; of praise and glory to God; of teaching what Christ would have for us and all people by following him in his ministry. This would happen through the Holy Spirit that engages our individual hearts, bringing us into the presence of God; building relationships with and lifting the burdens of the poor in our midst and around the world;
finding opportunities for spiritual growth regardless of where we are on the pilgrimage journey; using all of our God-given gifts to keep our focus on the Kingdom; and embracing the joy and practice of generosity including time, talents and money in every aspect of life.
