GO NY, GO NY, GO!!! Let's go Knicks!

On Long Island, nuns devoted to the Knicks say they're just as passionate as the sisters of San San Antonio are for the Spurs.

Last Sunday, St. Ignatius Church in Long Beach celebrated the presence of our sisters who ministered to the people for 100 years there. The day began with Mass in a packed church. We were warmly received, especially S. Diane Morgan who worked there for several years, and S. Eileen Nolan who was a member of the first faculty.

Sixteeen Dominican Sisters joined in this momentous occasion. After Mass, a reception was provided at which sisters and parishioners engaged in lively conversation and were not anxious to leave. Although the day was celebratory, a sense of loss could be felt. Dominican Sister Barbara Nirrengarten and S. Mary Claire Rhatigan are leaving, but the Dominican spirit and charism planted by many sisters will be evident for many years.

Sister Ave Clark was featured in The Christopher's Podcast and Article.

Recently, she was interviewed by Tony Rossi as part of an ongoing blog series, "Light One Candle" for the Christophers. He writes:

"When she was growing up, Sister Ave Clark’s father told her to befriend the workers who were a regular part of her life: the sanitation men, the mail carrier, the bank tellers, etc. If you’ve ever read one of her books, you’ll know that Sister Ave took that advice to heart because she will strike up a conversation with everyone she meets, making new friends all the time. As a result, these individuals – from the workers at her deli to the attendant at her gas station – share deeply personal stories with her and allow her to write about them in her books...."
