Norris Religious Fellowship

Norris Religious Fellowship We are people in relationship with one another and with God. Sunday Service 11 am Our membership is open to all and is not required to attend or become involved.

The Norris Religious Fellowship is an interdenominational community church which has grown from the desire of people with varied religious backgrounds to share experiences and to search together for spiritual enrichment. It seeks to provide opportunity for spiritual growth through a deeper appreciation of faith heritage and an understanding of the insights of the world's great religious faiths. Ou

r church community continues to build, hoping that those who join with us will find their burdens shared and their joys multiplied. We are a non-creedal church though we are composed of a number of individuals who come to us from creedal churches. As an inter-denominational church you can typically find former Methodists, Presbyterians, Lutherans, Baptists, Roman Catholics, Episcopalians, and non-Christian individuals in our pews. Many in our community have a wide-range of beliefs. You will find a fairly conservative theology and a fairly progressive theology sitting right next to one another in the pew. You will find these same people sharing opinions and views, differing widely in beliefs and allowing, tolerating, understanding, accepting the other persons’ views as being true for them, and therefore acceptable. We are a church that not only accepts and tolerates differences but encourages this diverse group to come together. It is an incredible mix. We also have a number of seekers who come to us from fairly fundamental or conservative churches who are looking for a different way of faith expression. We encourage seeking; and while not always providing answers, will help in the process of thinking and discovering. God is tolerant, loving and compassionate. We are co-creators of life with God and as such are asked to be loving and compassionate and tolerant of all, including ourselves.

All are welcome. “It is in community that we come to see God in the other. It is in community that we see our own emptiness filled up. It is community that calls me beyond the pinched horizons of my own life, my own country, my own race, and gives me the gifts I do not have within me.”
-Joan Chittister

Come, may your rest be a prayer.

All are invited to make a conscious, active decision to pause, step off the hamster wheel of daily stress, and savor the sweetness of God. Let us gather, as one body, for the pure pleasure of emptying and offering ourselves to be tuned by God.

Today we enjoy the Gift of Music from Cindy Edgecomb and Tom Kellar.

The tradition here is to tie on a free white ribbon with your own concerns (represented as knots) and turning them over to one’s ultimate Source.
It is also said: the faithful return to the sanctuary to tie a ribbon of colors as a sign of gratitude and testimony to the power of prayer.
