The Third Episcopal District of the Christian Methodist Episcopal Church is made up of 3 Regions in the United States (primarilly, in the Midwestern). The Regions are the Kansas-Missouri Region, the Michigan-Indiana Region, and the Southeast Missouri, Illinois, Wisconsin Region.

With heavy hearts, Carter Temple mourns the passing of Pastor Reginald Thaddeus Burke, Sr., a son of Carter Temple. We extend our heartfelt love and prayers to his wife, Rachon, his children, Trena, and the entire Burke family during this difficult time.

We thank God for his life, his ministry, and the legacy he leaves behind.

Applications for Preserving Black Churches (PBC) grants, a cornerstone initiative of the National Trust’s African American Cultural Heritage Action Fund, are now open!

As the oldest institutions created and controlled by African Americans, historically Black churches are a living testament to the achievements and resiliency of generations of American families and communities.

To preserve and uplift these historic places and the neighborhoods they serve, the Preserving Black Churches grant program provides funding ranging from $50,000 to $500,000.

Applications will close on September 11, 2026, at 5:00 p.m. ET.
