This past Sunday, I preached my last sermon as the pastor of First Presbyterian Church of Arlington Heights. I have made the decision that I’m not only leaving my post as head of staff, but I’m going to be leaving the pastorate all together. I no longer have a desire to serve as a pastor in the church. Presbyterian Disaster Assistance and the response to the Hawaiian fires.

Multiple fires continue to burn in Hawai'i on the islands of Maui and Hawai'i (The Big Island). While there are no PC(USA) congregations on those islands, PDA has been in touch with a pastor on O'ahu and the Presbytery of the Pacific to discuss ways PDA can support those impacted by the devastating fires. For all who wish to help people in a disaster situation there is a desperate need for clean up bucket supplies. The Little Rock warehouse at Ferncliff used up a lot with the recent tornados and other disasters. And hurricane season is just getting started!!

We are hearing from CWS that we only have about 30% of our desired inventory of Emergency Clean-up Buckets on-hand as the Atlantic hurricane season is underway.

🚨Today, the Senate is expected to vote on amendments to the National Defense Authorization Act. Tell Congress that the Afghan Adjustment Act should be one of them.🚨

In 2021, thousands of evacuating Afghans were given humanitarian parole in the United States. But parole is a temporary status, and those people are set to lose their protection this year. Tell Congress to pass the Afghan Adjustment Act to give Afghan evacuees permanent protections and the certainty to build their lives in the United States.
