Progress Over Perfection

One of the quickest ways to lose momentum is to believe that growth has to be perfect.

Missed a meeting?
Forgot to use a coping skill?
Had a rough day?

That doesn’t erase the progress you’ve already made.

Recovery isn’t built on perfection.
It’s built on persistence.

Every time you begin again, you’re strengthening a healthy habit.

A setback isn’t the end of your journey.
It’s simply part of the process.

✨ Try this today:
Notice one area where you’ve been focusing on perfection instead of progress.
Then celebrate one thing you’ve done well.

💬 Let’s talk:
What is one area where you’re learning to choose progress over perfection?

As we wind down the Mental Health awareness month of May, we thought it would be fitting to have a testimony from the CR National Director of Mental Health, Sarah Stanton.

Her story is impactful because it is honest, hopeful, and points to what God has done through the struggle—not just the struggle itself.

Join us this Tuesday, June 2, as Sarah shares her powerful story with us.

Week 4: Consistent Steps, Real Change - Small Steps Still Count

Growth doesn’t usually look dramatic. It looks consistent.
It’s choosing the next right step
even when it feels small.
Healing isn’t one big breakthrough it’s a series of quiet decisions.

To show up.
To reach out.
To pause.
To try again.

Even when you’re tired.
Even when it feels slow.
Small steps don’t mean you’re stuck.
They mean you’re still moving.
You don’t need to do everything.
You just need to keep going.

✨ Try this today:
Pick one small step
and follow through
That’s enough for today

💬 Let’s talk:
What’s one small step you’re taking this week?

Spiritual Inventory Part 2 is important because it moves recovery from simply admitting problems to actively identifying what is still blocking healing and freedom.

It helps us honestly examine resentments, fears, feelings relationships, habits, and patterns that can quietly lead us back toward relapse or spiritual drift.

This lesson teaches that healing grows when we stop hiding, become fully honest with ourselves and God, and allow Him to reveal areas that still need surrender.

Join us this Tuesday, May 26 as Stephen leads us through the Spiritual Inventory Part 2 lesson!

5:30 - CR Dinner - Pizza/Salad
6:30 - Large Group
7:30 - Small Groups
8:30 - Connection Cafe’

A healthy inventory is not about beating ourselves up; it is about growth!

Week 3: Renewing Your Mind - Not Every Thought Is Truth

Your mind speaks fast especially in hard moments.
And not every thought it offers
deserves your agreement.
Some thoughts are shaped by fear.
Some by past wounds.
Some by exhaustion.
They can sound incredibly convincing.
But you have the ability to pause.
To slow it down.
To question it.
To choose what you align with.
You don’t have to fight every thought you just don’t have to believe all of them.

Some days that looks like:
• checking a thought with your Sponsor
• asking “is this true or just loud?”
• writing it out instead of reacting to it
• grounding before responding

You are not your thoughts.
you are the one who can respond to them.

✨ Try this today:
Pause when a heavy thought hits
and ask:
“What is actually true right now?”

💬 Let’s talk:
What’s one thought you’ve learned to challenge instead of believe?

A couples testimony at a Celebrate Recovery meeting can be incredibly powerful because it shows both personal recovery and relational healing. The most effective testimonies are honest, hopeful, Christ-centered, and focused on what God has done—not just the pain or details of the struggle.

Join us this coming Tuesday, May 19 to hear from leaders Mike & Jeannine Vollmer from Restoration Christian Church in Joliet share their powerful story!

5:30 - CR Dinner
6:30 - Large Group
7:30 - Small Groups

Week 2: Connection That Sustains You - You Don’t Have To Carry It Alone

One action can change your direction but connection is what keeps you moving.
Healing isn’t built in isolation it’s strengthened in safe relationships. Not perfect ones. Not constant ones. Just consistent, honest connection.

Some days that looks like:
• texting your Sponsor before things spiral
• checking in with your Accountability Partner
• showing up to a meeting even when you don’t feel like talking
• letting someone know where you actually are mentally

You don’t have to explain everything.
Choosing connection is enough for today.

Connection doesn’t remove the struggle,
but it keeps you from facing it alone.

✨ Try this today:
Reach out before you feel okay,
not after.

💬 Let’s talk:
Who is someone safe you can stay connected to this week?

The main highlight of Lesson 10: Spiritual Inventory Part 1 is learning to take an honest, prayerful look at yourself so God can begin deeper healing.

It centers on Principle 4 and Step 4—examining your hurts, hang-ups, habits, along with your attitudes, and behaviors without denial or excuses.

Join us this Tuesday, May 12, as Scott leads us through this important lesson on our recovery journeys!

We’ll do CR Dinner at 5:30pm, followed by Large Group worship and lesson at 6:30. We’ll then move into our Open Share Small Groups at 7:30 and wrap up with the Connection Cafe’ at 8:30!

See you tomorrow night!
