DEACON IRVIN R. PRIDE
Irvin was like a real brother to me. Personally, I find that words are insufficient to fully convey the depth of my sadness at this moment. I met Him when he was working for D. G. Robinson Printing Co., while I was under the mentorship of the Late Elder Amos Robinson, the Pastor of St. Bartley Primitive Baptist Church. We became very good friends, especially while he was Director of the Brotherhood Choir. After Elder Robinson’s death, I became the Interim Pastor for four and one-half years at St. Bartley. After I served as Financial Secretary along with Elder J. E. Taylor for twenty (20) years, I recommended Irvin for the Financial Secretary position along with Elder Ronnie Russell. Irvin served faithfully until he resigned
In the late 90s. We shared some inspirational moments, and I was thankful for his friendship and brotherhood. Deacon Irvin was an encourager and one who truly trusted God and honored and praised Jesus Christ. Often, years later, we would meet at the Walgreens Pharmacy, at Alabama A&M basketball games, etc.
While serving as Interim Pastor at Saint Bartley, we played together on Saint Bartley’s Softball Team along with Deacon Theodore “Nip” Franklin, Elder Leroy Cole, and other members of the Church.
Deacon Irvin was more than an inspiration and encourager. Often, he would positively comment on my sermons and teaching. It was a blessing to be a part of his life. I realize that one day I shall rejoice in Heaven with him as we will sing with the angels and praise our Savior, Jesus Christ.
Much love and prayers to the Pride family, may God divinely bless you and provide the comfort that only God can give. Blessings.
REV. DR. ISAIAH ROBINSON, JR.
