I read something the other day.
It's been in the bible my whole life. I have never read it the way I found it. It is in the Easy-to-Read translation. Matthew 6:33. I have read it a thousand times in my life as a Christian. I was baptized when I was 17, just before graduating high school. Now I am 62.
'What you should want most is God’s kingdom and doing what he wants you to do. Then he will give you all these other things you need. '
Matthew 6:33

The part that hits hard for me now at 62 is when Jesus said
"You should want most is God's kingdom".
I spent my first few decades in darkness. I have slowly come into the light.
The decades I spent quarreling over "church". I was missing the mark. I should have been seeking the kingdom.
I know better now. I see after the kingdom of God.
Why?
The kingdom is God's.
The church is a collection of people who belong to God.
John was sent by God first to tell people that God, in his day, was fulfilling a promise of a kingdom that would never end.
God had prepared the one who would be king to continue the message that the kingdom was now.
For centuries, men have been off track, squabbling over church and doctrine when all along we should be seeking the kingdom of God, not church.
A change is going to come.
