It is with great sadness that we let you know Leilani Remias has gone to be with the Lord she loved so much. Leilani was a driving force in the St. Pius X Church Norfolk Migrant Ministry and Eastern Shore Migrant Ministry for over ten years. She was a steady, faithful presence in this community, offering her time, her hands, and her heart to those who needed it most.
Leilani had a gift for seeing dignity in every person she met. She collected clothing, shoes, and essentials with the same care and intention that others reserve for their own families. And when it was time to visit the camps, she never missed a trip and never failed to bring a carload of friends or grandchildren. Leilani walked into those fields with warmth, respect, and a spirit of service that made every worker feel seen and valued.
Her raffle prizes became legendary—especially the gigantic bags of popcorn that brought out laughter, smiles, and a sense of celebration among the workers and volunteers alike. Those simple gifts, offered with love, became moments of joy that people looked forward to year after year.
Leilani's faith was woven into everything she did, and she lived it quietly but powerfully—through service, compassion, and the way she treated every person as a child of God. She will be greatly missed.
