Dear Nokesville church family and friends,
“In the last days it will be, God declares, that I will pour out my Spirit upon all flesh, and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams” (Acts 2:17, NRSV).
What a joyful and powerful Pentecost service we had last Sunday! The sanctuary was decorated with red (symbolizing the descension of the Holy Spirit as fire), while many of us wore red. Our newly formed praise band led us into passionate praises to God’s name. We sang gospel songs joyfully, clapping and lifting our hands, as we commemorated the birth of the Church by the descent of the Holy Spirit. The whole service felt spiritual as we worshipped and honored our living God. I pray that we will experience spiritual awakening and restore a Spirit-led revival movement as we watch to see where God is already at work around us and boldly join Him in what He is doing. If you desire to experience powerful worship, please come to our Virginia Annual Conference of the Global Methodist Church (GMC), which will be held at the Wilderness Community Church in Spotsylvania this week from Thursday, May 28, to Saturday, May 30, where Global Methodists gather to worship God.
Here's the great news: We’ve found a new Church Administrative Coordinator. Praise the Lord. Our God is Jehovah Jireh – the Lord will provide. We will soon announce our new staff after finalizing things. On behalf of our congregation, I want to thank all our Staff Parish Relations Committee (SPRC) members for their faithful ministry. Special thanks go to Wade (Chair of the SPRC) and Sandy for their countless hours of labor and persistence in finding our new staff. We are richly blessed to have the amazing servants of God who are willing to share their talents and time for God’s glory and kingdom. On a separate note, we are still looking for an accompanist. I am sure that God will provide His faithful servant to bless and enhance our music ministry. Let’s continue to knock on heaven’s door together until God answers our prayers.
We’ve been exploring the Apostles’ Creed, the foundational statement of the Christian faith. Last Sunday, as we celebrated Pentecost, we explored who the Holy Spirit is. You can watch it at Sermons | Nokesville Methodist Church – Bible Teaching in Nokesville VA. This Sunday, May 31, we will explore the nature and mission of the Church (1 Corinthians 12:12-13, Ephesians 4:15-16). We will also get to hear about our Virginia Annual Conference. I hope to see you all soon on the Lord’s day.
Your brother in Christ,
Sung Yoo
