Can religion make you right with God?

The Pharisees certainly thought so.

They carefully followed traditions, added rules to God's Word, and appeared righteous on the outside. But Jesus confronted them with a truth that still challenges us today:

Our greatest problem isn't outside of us—it's inside of us.

No amount of religion, rule-keeping, or good works can cleanse a sinful heart. God's Law was never meant to save us; it was meant to reveal our need for a Savior.

This Sunday, we'll continue our verse-by-verse study through the Gospel of Mark as we examine one of Jesus' most powerful confrontations with the religious leaders of His day and discover why the only hope for sinful hearts is the rescuing grace found in Jesus Christ.
