Nikiski Nazarene Church "To be passionate followers of Jesus Christ" Since its grand opening in April of 1974, Nikiski Church of the Nazarene has undergone many changes.

Originally, the church consisted of a single house that sat on four adjacent lots. This home was transformed into the church sanctuary and was only 2800 square feet. Today, the church is composed of two buildings spanning 14,000 square feet and resides upon a block of 12 adjacent lots.

Heaven falls down before the Lamb with harps and golden bowls full of prayers... and sings something it has never sung before.

Many of us were handed salvation as a ticket and a long wait. The new song says we were bought back like slaves set free, and bought for a purpose.

So why were we bought?

Students in 6th-12th grade... we're heading to Anchorage October 9-11 for RENEW, a fall retreat set apart to be renewed in Jesus. Speaker Jeremey Veal will bring the Word, and The Collective from NNU will lead worship, with a bonfire night and plenty of time together along the way.

We'll drive up together from Nikiski, and departure details will be shared soon in person. Cost is $85.

Starting Wednesday, September 30, Jan Darch leads seven Wednesday nights through One at a Time, a video study from Kyle Idleman on what it looks like to make a difference by focusing on the one in front of us.

Practicing the Way is our new eight-week discipleship class for adults, meeting Sundays at 9:30 AM beginning September 13. Built on the Practicing the Way Course from John Mark Comer, it's an introduction to spiritual formation centered on three things: being with Jesus, becoming like him, and doing as he did.

Each week we watch a short teaching together, talk honestly around the table, and take on a practice for the week... a daily time with God, a life audit, a Sabbath, eventually a Rule of Life of your own. Every participant receives a printed Companion Guide to work through at home. Led by Pastor Jason and Jan Darch.

This one is a sign-up class rather than come-and-go... the conversation depends on the same people being in the room week to week. So plan on all eight Sundays, September 13 through November 8 (no class October 25).

A scroll in God's right hand, sealed shut... and no one found worthy to open it.

For two weeks heaven has been loud. This week it goes silent, and John weeps. We stop at verse 4 and stay there with him, because tears before the throne are still worship.

Did you miss Wednesday night, or want to go back and spend a little more time with what was covered?

Last night was Week 2 of Winning the War in Your Mind: Take Your Mind Back. We looked at how the lies we believe about ourselves are often old, rooted in things said and done long ago, and how Romans 12 calls us to be "transformed by the renewing of your mind." The big idea for the week: name the lie, then replace it with what God says is true.

Everything from Week 2 is available online, including the teaching video, key Scriptures, reflection questions, prayer, and this week's challenge... writing two or three daily declarations of God's truth, straight from Scripture, and speaking them out loud through the week.

Whether you were there Wednesday or couldn't make it, take some time to watch, reflect, and keep the conversation going.

Week 2: Take Your Mind Back

The lies we believe about ourselves are often old — rooted in things said and done long ago. This week is about naming the lie, and replacing it with what God says is true.
