“That Ain’t What I Asked For”

Prayer gets difficult when God’s answer doesn’t look like our request. But somewhere in the middle of prayer, we have to settle this:

“This doesn’t look like what I requested, but I’m going to trust God in it.”

Prayer is more than talking to God. There are moments when we ask, He answers, and we’re left thinking, “God… that’s not exactly what I had in mind.”

What do you do when you trust that God heard you, but you’re not sure you trust what He gave you?

Great is your faithfulness to me!

Heavenly Father, we honor you for being holy, righteous, keeping, gracious, and merciful to us. We bless you for our daily bread, breath in our body, strength and life. Today we recognize that even though it don’t look like how we want it to. We’re amazed to truly see that it don’t look like what it used to. Let us be okay with seeing what once was our past life, past pain, past betrayal, past heartache, past sin, past tendencies etc. The past is behind us in the rear view mirror, over, can’t see it anymore. We’re grateful for your faithfulness in bringing us through everyday of our lives!

Forgive me Lord, for never saying thank you.
But thank you Lord for still allowing me a new chance today to say thank you!
That’s thank you for all the promises that have came to pass. The healing of our bodies. The transforming of our minds, Renewing us daily. Being the author and finisher of our life! The provision, protection and peace you give to us daily.
Thank you for loving us first, now help us to love you back.

Sometimes we’re so focused on where we’re trying to go that we forget where we came from. Think about some of the things you prayed your way through. Think about situations you thought you wouldn’t survive, yet here you are.

“Thus far the Lord has helped us.” - 1 Samuel 7:12 (NKJV)

You may still have a long way to go, but don’t overlook your progress. If God carried you this far, you have every reason to trust Him with what comes next. 💙

A new week can come with a lot on your mind. work, family, bills, responsibilities, and things you’re still trying to figure out. Before you let everything overwhelm you, give it to God.

“Commit your way to the Lord, Trust also in Him, And He shall bring it to pass.” — Psalm 37:5 (NKJV)

You don’t need to know how everything will work out this week. Ask God to lead you one day at a time and trust Him with the rest. 🙏🏽

Sometimes we think we should only bother God with the “big” problems. But if it matters to you, it matters enough to bring to Him.

Your finances. Your family. Your decisions. Your emotions. Your plans. That conversation you’ve been nervous about.

“Pray without ceasing.” - 1 Thessalonians 5:17

Talk to God throughout the day, not just when you’re desperate. Prayer is a relationship, not an emergency button. 🙏🏽💛

Some fruit for thought:

It is okay to admit to God that what you’re facing is scary, uncomfortable, and difficult to understand. Faith does not require you to pretend that everything is fine. It simply reminds you that even when you are unsure of what will happen, you can remain sure of who God is.

The situation may be bigger than you, but it is not bigger than Him. Lean into the truth that He is able.

Pastor Ken took us into Acts 27 today and whew… sometimes God promises the destination without promising a comfortable ride.

The storm got worse. The ship started breaking apart. But God’s word concerning Paul never changed.

Sometimes you can be right where God said you were going and still not like how you’re getting there.

And after the Word, we took time to celebrate the amazing members of Seed of Hope! Today was Member Appreciation Day, and we simply wanted to say thank you to the people who serve, love, give, and make this ministry home.
