God of Peace, we remember on this day those whose lives were lost to violence and hatred. Bring an end to war, terror, and senseless violence; cleanse our hearts of hatred and distrust, and guide the leaders of our world in the ways of peace.
We give you thanks for the courage, sacrifice, and selflessness of first responders on that day who placed themselves in harm’s way to protect and serve others. Bless them, and comfort all who have been affected by their service or grieve their loss.
Lead us from conflict into the lasting peace of your kingdom; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.
