On this day in 1916, Patrick Pearse, Tom Clarke and Thomas MacDonagh were sentenced to death for their part in the Easter Rising. The three were taken to Kilmainham Gaol and shot at dawn in the Stonebreaker’s Yard. We honor and remember them for their courage and sacrifice that set the course for a Free Ireland.
