Sunday School: Sunday School will be resuming on Sunday, September 13! Following Church service, we will break for a snack during fellowship hour, then we meet in the classroom for prayer, lessons and crafts. All children ages 4 - 6th grade are welcome to attend. Please contact Elizabeth Lowery or Christy Saffi with any questions.
Choir Practice: Choir has resumed. Practice is Wednesday night at 7pm. Please contact the church office if you are interested in joining.
Confirmation Orientation: As we are adjusting the age for our Confirmation classes, any student from 5th-7th grade who has not yet started Confirmation is welcome to join us. Please reply to the church email so that Pastor knows who to expect (and please forward the church email to any friend or family member with children that age who may be interested - the family is invited to contact Pastor Rob to learn more). Please note: Mondays at 5:30pm were last year's time. We may flex to a different day or time depending on families' needs, but plan on that time for now unless you hear differently.
Events & Activities:
Parade Floats: Christ the King will have a float in this year's Newtown Labor Day Parade - Monday, Sept. 7th! Additionally, we will also ride in the Bridgewater Tractor Parade the day before - Sunday, Sept 6th. Please reach out to the church office or see Pastor Rob with any questions.
September Summer Potluck: Please join us for our next picnic on Sunday, September 6th. We will grill the hotdogs and hamburgers while everyone brings either a side dish, dessert or beverage to share. We start grilling at 11am. If you are planning on coming and have not yet RSVP'd, please respond to the church email. We hope you can join us! Next event is Oktoberfest on October 11!
OWL’s Senior Community (Older, Wiser, Lutherans): This new group will bring engaging topics, guest speakers and fellowship. A sign up sheet has been posted on the church bulletin board and the first event will be held at the church on September 24th from 1pm to 3pm. Seniors are invited to participate in a VIP-led event of an indoor tour of CTK. Look for the flyer in your church mail box this week for further information. Any additional questions please contact Cindy Grabovsky or John Buck
Craft Table at Fall Fair: New at the Fall Fair this year, we will have a Church craft table (similar to the bake sale) for members to donate their hand-crafted items for us to sell. All proceeds will be benefiting the Church. Please price your own items fairly, depending on what you think they are worth. Donate one item or ten, all appreciated! Details to follow, see Charlotte Lowery with questions.
Fall Fair: The Fall Fair is coming up on Saturday, November 7! To help support our hugely popular $1/$5 tag sale, we would appreciate your donated items to sell. Items can be left in the hallway across from the Sunday school classroom. Please make sure all items are clean and in sellable condition. No furniture, please. If you have any questions, please see Danielle Po***ck or Elizabeth Lowery.
Faith Food Pantry Update: While Christ the King supports Newtown's Faith Food Pantry year-round, we are having a "Pack the Car" event on Sunday, September 27! Please bring your donations (updated list in the narthex grocery cart) and let's try to pack Elizabeth's trunk FULL!
Benevolent Giving in September: Our benevolent giving this month is to Lutheran Hour Ministries. Donations may be made by leaving a check in the offering plate designating the funds to them. Please include your envelope number along with the check.
