August 23, 2026 Celebrating the 21st Sunday in Ordinary Time at 10:00am Liturgy. Jesus asks the disciples “who do they say I am?” Listens to all the speculations about reincarnated prophets. Then Jesus ask them, who do you say I am?” After all, they know the man having traveled with him during his ministry! Peter answers, “ You are the Christ!” Hooray, extra points for Peter! Jesus asks each of us the same question.

ECC priest Rev. Kay Schmitt of St. Louis and beloved friend of Holy Spirit Catholic Community, passed into eternal life June 16, 2026. Kay was a wise soul and a mentor to Rev Rosa Buffone and Fr. Rick Klaich, remembered for her gentle kindness that conveyed you were seen, playful heart and big laugh that filled a room with joy, a presence that engaged you as she listened intently saying “terrific, tell me more about that, I’d like to know”. During one of her visits and as the guest homilist for an outdoor summer Mass Kay started by widening her arms up above her head, looking around and saying “Isn’t it wonderful to be in God’s magnificent cathedral this morning?” Kay’s love for God’s creation was contagious! Our prayers extend out to and enfold Henry her husband, her children and grandchildren, extended family and friends with God’s comfort. Kay, may the choir of angels bring you to paradise; may you rest in peace and rise in glory, and numbered among the Communion of Saints may you continue to pray for us. We love you Kay. Your memory is a blessing. You will be deeply missed. Until we meet again dear friend 💖
