We learned that some members received text messages impersonating Pastor Michael that requested gift cards. Staff will never make such a request, but if you're ever in doubt, feel free to contact the church office!

The Rev. David Livingston was stunned to learn over the weekend that someone claiming to be him was texting members of Fairway Old Mission United Methodist Church, asking for gift cards to benefit cancer patients.

Be sure to join us this Sunday, February 8th, from 11 to 1:30 pm, for our Annual Community Soup Sale. We have an amazing variety of delicious homemade soup, just in time for your Super Bowl celebration.

Proceeds benefit the Manna House Soup Kitchen in Newton. Manna House, through the support, compassion, and generosity of the community, serves a free meal daily, Monday through Friday, to any and all who enter. They have been serving the community for 39 years.

From worship this week: "We’re not going to do some sort of heady, cerebral theologizing, nor are we going to make this some somber, apocalyptic season. Instead, we’re really going to be leaning into joy."

The pattern of joy is not to burst out with as many words as we can, or to start telling the world about how good things are, or to launch into a flurry of do-goodery. The pattern of joy—this choice of joy—begins with quiet contemplation.
