📖 Moravian Watchword for the Week

Psalm 8:9

“O Lord, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth!”

Psalm 8 begins and ends with these words of praise, reminding us that all creation points to the greatness of God.

From the vastness of the heavens to the beauty of the earth around us, we see signs of His handiwork. The changing seasons, the mountains and valleys, the stars above, and the lives He has entrusted to our care all proclaim His majesty.

Yet this psalm also reminds us of something remarkable: the God whose name is exalted in all the earth knows and cares for each one of us.

As we reflect on this Watchword, may our hearts be filled with wonder and gratitude. May we take time to notice God’s presence in His creation and offer Him the praise He is due.

This week, let us join the psalmist in declaring:

“O Lord, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth!”

📖 Moravian Watchword for the Week

1 Corinthians 12:4–5

“There are different kinds of gifts, but the same Spirit distributes them. There are different kinds of service, but the same Lord.”

The Church is made up of many people, many callings, and many gifts — yet all are united in Christ.

Some are called to teach.
Some to encourage.
Some to serve quietly behind the scenes.
Some to lead, sing, pray, visit, comfort, organize, or give.

No gift is too small when it is offered faithfully to the Lord.

Paul reminds us that while our roles may differ, the same Spirit works through each one for the good of the body of Christ. We are not meant to all serve in the same way — but together, we reflect the fullness of God’s work among His people.

As we move through this week, may we use the gifts God has given us with humility, joy, and gratitude… serving one another in love.

📖 Moravian Watchword for the Week

1 Peter 5:7

“Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.”

There is great comfort in these simple words.

God does not ask us to carry every burden alone.
He invites us to bring our worries, fears, griefs, and uncertainties to Him.

Not because our struggles are small —
but because His care is great.

The image of “casting” our anxieties reminds us that we were never meant to hold tightly to the weight that troubles our hearts. Christ lovingly calls us to place those burdens into His hands.

And what assurance we are given:
“He cares for you.”

Personally. Completely. Faithfully.

As we move through this week, may we rest in the gentle care of our Savior, trusting that no prayer is too small and no burden too heavy for Him to bear alongside us.

📖 Moravian Watchword for the Week

John 14:6

“Jesus answered, ‘I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.’”

In a world filled with many voices and many paths, this verse speaks with clarity and assurance.

Jesus does not simply point the way —
He is the way.

He does not merely teach truth —
He is the truth.

He does not just give life —
He is the life.

These words are both an invitation and a promise. In Christ, we are not left to wander or wonder. We are given a sure path, a steady truth, and a life that is eternal.

As we walk through this week, may we place our trust fully in Him —
following where He leads,
holding fast to His truth,
and living in the fullness of His life.

📖 Moravian Watchword for the Week

John 10:9

“I am the gate; whoever enters through me will be saved. They will come in and go out, and find pasture.”

In the quiet rhythms of shepherding, the gate of the sheepfold held deep meaning.

It was the place of safety.
The place of belonging.
The place of provision.

At night, the shepherd would often lie across the entrance himself — becoming the gate — ensuring that nothing harmful could enter and none of the sheep would be lost.

When Jesus says, “I am the gate,” He offers us that same assurance.

Through Him, we find refuge from what threatens us.
Through Him, we are welcomed into the fold.
Through Him, we are led out to green pastures where we are nourished and sustained.

To enter through Christ is not to be confined, but to be cared for — to live freely under the watchful presence of the Good Shepherd.

As we walk through this week, may we rest in the safety of His care and follow where He leads.

📖 Moravian Watchword for the Week

1 Peter 1:23

“For you have been born again, not of perishable seed, but of imperishable, through the living and enduring word of God.”

In a world where so much fades and passes away, this verse reminds us of what truly lasts.

Through God’s Word, we are given new life — not temporary or uncertain, but lasting and secure. This new birth is not something we achieve, but something we receive through the grace of God.

The same Word that spoke creation into being continues to speak life into us today — steady, enduring, and unchanging.

As we move through this week, may we rest in this truth:
our hope is rooted in what cannot perish.

May we live as people made new, shaped daily by the living Word of God.

📖 Moravian Watchword for the Week

Colossians 3:1

“Since, then, you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God.”

This Easter season, we are reminded that the resurrection is not only something we celebrate — it is something we live.

Because Christ is risen, we are raised with Him.
Because He lives, our lives are made new.

Colossians calls us to lift our hearts — to look beyond what is temporary and fix our eyes on what is eternal. In a world that often pulls our attention downward, Easter invites us to look up… to Christ, who reigns in glory.

May this week be shaped by resurrection hope:
• A renewed perspective
• A lifted heart
• A life centered on Christ

He is risen indeed — and because He lives, we live also.
