Jesus Shares the Last Supper with His Disciples
Jesus and His disciples celebrated the Passover. It was at that night that Jesus instituted or established the Lord's Supper in which we still do today.
Jesus took bread, gave thanks for it and gave it to His disciples and commanded them to eat. Then Jesus took the cup, and gave thanks and gave it to them to drink. The fruit of the vine in the cup symbolizes the precious cleansing blood of Jesus the Lamb of God who takes away sins.
The blood of Jesus Christ was shed in order to remove our sins. His pure, innocent and sinless blood was the payment for the wages of our sins. Without blood there will be no remission of sin. In the old covenant this was done with animal sacrifices. But in the new covenant, Jesus willingly died as a sacrifice on the cross to shed His blood and die for our sins once and for all.
Hence, there are no more animal sacrifices because the blood of Jesus Christ is more than enough to cover or pay for our sins - past, present and future. The moment we believe in Jesus Christ upon hearing His gospel preached or presented to us, we are then washed of our sins by the blood of the Lamb.
