Honoring Our Spring Interns & Student Volunteers
This spring, we were blessed by an incredible group of interns and student volunteers who gave their time, energy, and hearts to serve alongside us at The Corner Table. Their willingness to step in and help reminds us that compassion has no age limit, and that the next generation is already making a powerful impact in our community.
The Montessori School joined us almost every Friday to help pack Friday To-Go Bags for our Community Kitchen guests, ensuring our neighbors had meals for the weekend.
Shaena, an intern from Newton-Conover High School, spent the spring semester working directly with our Executive Director assisting with office tasks and fundraising events, helping support the mission behind the scenes.
The Fred T. Foard High School OCS Program faithfully served twice a week in our Community Kitchen, greeting and serving our guests with kindness and dignity.
Students from Catawba Rosenwald rotated weekly between our Backpack Program and Community Kitchen, packing food bags for local children and serving lunch to guests in need.
Walker and Wade, interns from Newton-Conover High School, worked alongside our Executive Director throughout the semester assisting with office projects, fundraising events, and stepping in to serve lunch whenever needed.
Zaria, an intern from CVCC studying Human Services, worked closely with our Community Navigator to learn more about community resources while building meaningful relationships with the guests we serve every day.
The Newton-Conover High School OCS Program dedicated time twice each week to assist with lunch service, prep work, and cleaning in our Community Kitchen.
The Maiden High School OCS Program came every other week to help clean and care for our Community Kitchen facility.
Students from Conover School joined us monthly to bag cookies for our Friday To-Go Bags, adding a special touch for our guests.
Maiden Elementary students assisted monthly with packing food bags through our Backpack Program, helping provide meals for local children facing food insecurity.
Watauga Co-Op also volunteered monthly in our Backpack Program, helping prepare weekly food bags for students in our community.
Because of each of these students, schools, and programs, hundreds of individuals and families were served with nourishment, dignity, and hope this spring.
To every student, teacher, coordinator, and volunteer leader, thank you for choosing to serve. Your kindness is helping change lives, and we are deeply grateful for the impact you made at The Corner Table.
