NEW SCHEDULE: Worship Wednesdays at 6:00 p.m. August 12, 19, and 26. Sunday worship will resume September 6th at 9:30 am.

Share a light meal, conversation, and a time of prayer and song. The gathering lasts about one hour. Whenever possible we are out on the lawn, so children can run, breezes can blow, and we can celebrate creation.
Rev. Ken Baily will lead worship on August 12 and 19. Wednesday, August 26, will feature Norumbega Harmony, led by Dr. Stephen Marini, Professor of Christian Studies & Professor of Religious Studies at Wellesley College.

Today was the Annual All-Newton UCC/Presbyterian Worship service. Community and coming together was the theme, as the Rev. Dr. Eric Jackson's message asked us, "Where does our strength come from?" We sang, prayed, shared the communion table, and lit candles together. The community choir sang"Arise, Shine, For your Light Has Come" by Allen Pore.
The six churches were: The Eliot Church of Newton, Newton Highlands Congregational Church, Newton Presbyterian Church, Second Church in Newton, Union Church in Waban, and The United Church of Auburndale.

All-Newton UCC plus some Presbyterian congregations worship together this Sunday at NHCC.
Join us for worship at 9:30 on Sunday, August 2nd when several congregations join together for worship in our air-conditioned sanctuary. Pastors from these congregations will co-lead the service and the Rev. Dr. Eric Jackson from Eliot Church will preach. There will be a combined community choir led by NHCC music director Jan Zimmerman, and our accomplished organist Yevgenia Semeina-Maroyan will play the organ and the piano.

Last Sunday the service included shared reflections about the meaning of welcome, experiences of being a stranger, and experiences of immigration. Thank you to Wendy Donnell, Joy Huber, Yevgenia Semeina-Maroyan and all those who generously shared their experiences and reflections.

This past Sunday was the second of our summer Lay Led services. The service and the readings highlighted what Jesus and the Bible actually teach us about how to welcome strangers and refugees. Randy Ellis titled his message “The World Cup, Jesus, and the Separation of Church and Hate.” The service used content from John Fugelsang’s 2025 book " Separation of Church and Hate".
We are looking forward to next Sunday when the service is led by Lay Leader Lucy Barros.

Our summer series of lay led worship services kicked off on Sunday. Lay leader Kitty Rieske led worship with a theme of "Gracious Forgiveness and the Need for Deep Watering." Yevgenia Semeina-Maroyan played a piano piece, Nocturne, by EC von Fricken for the offertory.

Worship on Sunday June 11th focused on journeys unfolding in stages. Rev Ken Baily reflected on the journeys in the Lectionary readings and on the journey we are on as a congregation. After worship we gathered for our annual meeting, ate pizza, reviewed the year, and began planning for the upcoming year.
Join us on Sunday, June 14th, Newton Highlands Village day, at 10:00 am. Following a long tradition, the three neighborhood churches gather to worship together - NHCC, New City Church, and the Episcopal Church of Saint Paul. This year we worship in the NHCC sanctuary and Rev. Devlin Scott from New City Church will give the message. See you in church!
