Eliot Church of Newton

Eliot Church of Newton Building Community,
Growing Faith,
Living Love We are a community of believers, seekers and questioners devoted to being on a faith journey together.

We are a warm and dynamic congregation of the United Church of Christ (UCC), located in Newton Corner, near all points in Newton as well as Brighton and Watertown. We strive to weave service and advocacy into the fabric of all we do as a community of faith. By doing so we hope to cultivate an awareness that doing justice, serving others and working for change in our world is a central part of bein

g a Christian. We cherish our children and youth, and dedicate many resources in providing multiple opportunities for education, spiritual formation, and Christian growth. We also treasure music and the arts as pathways to grow in communion with God and with each other. Eliot is an Open and Affirming Church, believing that ALL people are children of God. We recognize, celebrate and give thanks for the rich diversity and boundless gifts of EVERYONE. We invite those of every race, religious background, age, ability, gender, sexual orientation, and economic condition to join us in the full life of Eliot Church.

This June, we are collecting food and birthday items for the Centre Street Food Pantry. For many families, these simple things are not always affordable—but together, we can help.

Drop off cereal, granola bars, mac & cheese, cake mix, frosting, candles, sprinkles, and other birthday goodies at church throughout June.

Every item donated helps a child feel cared for, celebrated, and loved.

Message us for more information on how to donate.

This past Sunday, we reflected on how pride and fear can keep us isolated, while faith can move us forward.

The woman in the Gospel story didn’t know what would happen when she reached out to Jesus—but she did it anyway. Her faith connected her to healing and hope.

Jesus restores what the world breaks. He sees those who are overlooked, welcomes those on the margins, and reminds us that God’s grace is always within reach.

What might happen if you reached out in faith this week?

This past Sunday, we reflected on how housing is often more than a market issue—it can be a system that keeps people separated: Black from white, rich from poor, documented from undocumented, young from old.

But when people live together across differences, stereotypes fade and neighbors emerge. Relationships are built. Community and belonging become possible.

Join us this Sunday at 10 AM at Eliot Church of Newton as we continue imagining a world where everyone belongs.

☕ First Sunday Coffee & Conversation 🎶

Join us on this Sunday, June 7 at 11:30 AM for our First Sunday Coffee and Conversation with the Pastor at Eliot Church of Newton.

This month, we’ll be joined by Pastor Eric and Chris Hodges for a special conversation about music in our church—where we’ve been, where we are, and where we’re dreaming of going next.

Bring your hopes, ideas, memories, and questions. Your voice is part of the story we’re building together.

We can’t wait to share coffee, conversation, and community with you. 🤍

Before the light appeared, the Spirit was already moving.

Pastor Eric reminded us that our calling is to be faithful in the dark—to keep showing up when nothing seems to be happening, to keep building community when division is easier, and to keep making room for others to belong.

Every time we widen the circle, we participate in God’s work of creation. ✨

Happy Pride Month 🌈

At Eliot Church of Newton, we believe every person is created in the image of God — beautifully, wholly, and worthy of love exactly as they are.

We proudly celebrate and affirm our LGBTQIA+ siblings not only in June, but every single day. Since becoming an Open & Affirming congregation in 2003, we have committed ourselves to creating a faith community where all people are welcomed, embraced, and celebrated.

“There is no longer Jew or Greek, there is no longer slave or free, there is no longer male and female; for all of you are one in Christ Jesus.” — Galatians 3:28

Your identity is not a barrier to God’s love. Your story matters here. Your presence is holy here.

No matter who you are or where you are on life’s journey, you are welcome at Eliot Church. 🏳️‍🌈✨
