As a member of the Church of Christ are you weary with what you see happening in your local congregation? Do you see that what is going on is not what the Bible teaches? Are you wondering what to do or where you can go?
I’m Steven Deaton, one of the elders at the Newton church of Christ. We want you to know we stand in the “old paths.” We strive diligently to speak as the oracles of God as we are told to do in 1 Peter 4:11. Our aim is to be a New Testament church; a congregation that is grounded in God’s word, upholds the truth, and respects Bible authority.
Sadly, not all congregations that identify themselves as a “church of Christ” follow the New Testament. Rather, they have drifted away by following the will of men. Jesus warned about this in Matthew 15:7-9 where He said, “Hypocrites! Well did Isaiah prophesy about you, saying: ‘These people draw near to Me with their mouth, and honor Me with their lips, but their heart is far from Me. And in vain they worship Me, teaching as doctrines the commandments of men.’”
Leaders in some congregations have abandoned the faith and are taking members further from the Lord. They have abdicated their duty and harmed the cause of Christ in the process.
The Lord is aware of this and knows those of you who are troubled by these things. He loves you and wants you to be built up. As 2 Peter 2:9 says, He is ready and willing to deliver you.
You do not have to stay in a situation where truth is not upheld; one where sin is accepted; one where your soul is being sapped of strength.
We are here to help and encourage you. The Newton church of Christ is Scripturally organized with elders and deacons. We have a healthy mix of ages and a membership that is friendly and welcoming. Our Bible classes are centered on God’s word and foster healthy discussions. Likewise, sermons are grounded in Scripture – We preach the word as 2 Timothy 4:2 states.
Learn more about us on our website or visit one of our services. We meet Sunday at 10 AM for class and 11 AM for worship. We meet again on Wednesday at 7 PM for Bible classes.

I’ll leave you with this from Galatians 6:9: do not grow weary while doing good, for in due season you shall reap if you do not lose heart.
