June News from the Newton Knights of Columbus

JUNE 23, 2026 STAG
The June Stag for the Newton Knights of Columbus will be held on Tuesday, June 23, 2026, with a meal served at 7:00 p.m. Currently, we are seeking a cook for the meal. Costs associated with the meal are reimbursed with any proceeds going towards the Jasper Columbian Home. Typically, meals are prepared for 40-50 attendees. If you would be interested in cooking for the June Stag, please contact Jason @ 618-562-5822.

AMERICA 250th CELEBRATION

Jasper County America 250th Celebration
Newton KC will be looking for Knights & Helpers to assist with the meal. A sign-up sheet is located at the KC Hall. Needing workers to assist with serving the meal in Ste. Marie starting at 4 pm. Your Help would be appreciated!

NEW FINANCIAL SECRETARY
Calvin Schnabel will be taking over as the new Financial Secretary for the Newton Council. Calvin will be working with James Treccia to get up to speed with his new duties. K of C VISITATION ROSARY
The Knights of Columbus have a longstanding tradition of praying the Rosary during the wake or visitation of a deceased brother Knight. This provides fraternity and comfort to the grieving family, and spiritual support for the departed soul. The Newton Knights of Columbus would like to revive this tradition. If you are interested in assisting when needed, please contact Jason @ 618-562-5822.

The walk-in cooler at the KC Hall needs some component replacements and repairs. Please be on the lookout in the upcoming months for fundraisers and efforts to help offset the costs of the replacements & repairs.

Sir Knight Daniel Lawrence Meinhart (1942-2026) passed away on June 8, 2026. Eternal rest grant unto Daniel, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon him. May he rest in peace. Amen. May Almighty God bless us with his peace and strength, the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit.

The Newton Knights are seeking assistance with the meal being served at Ste. Marie on Friday, July 3, 2026 to celebrate America's 250th. A sign-up sheet will be that the KC Hall starting tonight for those who are able to help with serving and meal prep at Ste. Marie. Your help would be appreciated!

The May Meeting of the Newton Knights of Columbus Council #1704 (3rd Degree) will be held tonight, May 12, 2026, at 8 p.m. All members are welcome to attend. The agenda is attached.

Please find attached the Newton Knight of Columbus May Newsletter. Newton Council #1704 (3rd Degree) will hold our monthly meeting on Tuesday, May 12 at 8:00 p.m. at the KC Hall, all members are welcome to attend. The May Stag will be held on Tuesday, May 28 at 7:00 p.m. at the KC Hall with a meal cooked by the 3rd Degree.

A Jasper County Celebration is being planned to celebrate America's 250th. The Newton Knights of Columbus have been asked to cook KC-Style Chicken and prepare a meal for the event. We will be asking able men to assist in this task with cooking chicken, transporting chicken to Ste. Marie, and helping serve the meal. A signup sheet will be available at the May Stag. If you can help, we would appreciate it!
