This week we celebrate Labor Day, a day to honor those who work hard to produce the blessings we need both in and out of the church. As we serve our Lord and Saviour, we must realize we are to serve God in every aspect of our lives. As we work in the church, we unify to use our gifts to praise our Saviour realizing all are equal in His sight using the gifts God gave them. At the same time, we must realize God uses us in His workforce to show a proper Christian testimony to a lost and dying world. Our boss, fair or not, is a servant of Jesus and will be judged by Him. We serve our jobs as we serve Christ where He placed us. Pastor George

The Old Testament has many types and signs to help us understand our life in this dispensation. Yom Kippur, the Day of Atonement, perfectly shows us the dual nature of Christ’s sacrifice as man taking man’s penalty and God satisfying justice and providing our pardon. It also adds the personally sacrifice of the High Priest showing we must identify with His sacrifice to obtain His mercy and grace. We are to come afflicted in soul for our sin with humble clothes. Seeking our God in faith, He accepts our sacrifice of repentance and counts us holy clothing us in royal attire, adopted as sons of God! Pastor George

We are to preach the Gospel to every creature according to Mark 16:15. This is often used to ensure we support missionaries going to the uttermost parts of the world. This is critical as God’s Word calls us to do just this. But we often forget those who are right in our midst. Those in jail are sinners who have been caught by the state violating man’s law. We forget about them to our own detriment. With them, we are guilty of violating God’s Law even if the state does not enforce it. Let us ensure we do not forget those who need to hear His Good News who live near us yet often forgotten and neglected by us. Pastor George

Proverbs 16:18 says “Pride goeth before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall.” We have the opportunity to serve our perfect, holy Lord and Saviour as great sinners saved by grace who can do anything only through Christ who strengthens us (Philippians 4:13). If God allows you to serve Him in His church for God’s glory, you have no cause to boast, but only a thankful heart to be allowed to be used in His eternal work in humility and praise. Our reward is not to be lifted up in man’s praise or demand our place, it is to hear “Well done, good and faithful servant at the Bema Seat! Be humble in joy! Pastor George
