“To everything there is a season, and a time for every purpose under heaven.”
We don't know all that was in King Solomon’s mind when he penned those words, but this much is certain: they were given by God, and they remain true in every generation.
When Southeast Church Extension was launched in 2014, we could not have imagined all the gracious things God would do. By His kindness, we were able to plant a church, assist several other churches in their pursuit of discipleship and church health, and help establish a forward path for the ministry of IFCA International in the southeastern United States.
Since our move to Tennessee in October 2014, I have had the privilege of speaking 467 times through preaching, teaching, and ministry presentations in churches, Bible colleges, and gatherings for pastors and ministry leaders across 17 states and one foreign country. That ministry has included extended and ongoing service in five different churches, as well as the planting and pastoring of one church. During those years, God also allowed us to host and house two interns. What a season of ministry the Lord has given us! To Him be all praise.
Through seasons of both grief and victory, God has never failed us, nor has He ever given us reason to doubt His faithfulness. Yet seasons do change, and as Solomon reminds us, “to everything there is a season.” The ministry season of Southeast Church Extension is no exception. On April 16, our Board of Directors voted to cease operations, effective June 1, 2026.
This decision was neither easy nor hasty. We have prayed, sought counsel, and shed many tears along the way. In 2018, we agreed on a leadership transition plan, yet the Lord did not provide another leader to carry the ministry forward. In 2025, when Dan stepped down as Director, no successor emerged. We receive that, together with the current severe financial shortfall, as the Lord’s providential indication that He has another plan. Though this is a sorrowful moment, we do not grieve without hope or despair. We believe the God who ordained the beginning of this ministry has also ordained its close, and we wait with anticipation to see what He will do next, trusting Him to accomplish His work in His way and in His time.
To all who have prayed, given, encouraged, and stood beside us, we simply say thank you. There is no greater privilege than serving the living Savior. If, in God’s providence, He chooses to continue in another form what has been begun through this ministry, we will rejoice, because it has always been about Him.
