Mount Pilgrim Missionary Baptist Church was founded during 1880, in a small building approximately two miles from the present location. Pender, Walter Greene, Howard and Murriel. Rev. Anderson was Pastor of Mt. Pilgrim from 1928 to 1934 when Rev. Miles Becton became the Pastor. Rev Becton served Mt. Pilgrim Faithfully for 25 years. During his service hurricane Hazel destroyed all the church's reco

rds. W.H. Bunell became the Pastor during January 1960 for six months and was followed by Rev. Roy McCabe. Wilson Johnson became the Pastor in January 1964 and served for two ahd a half years. During his service, Rev. Johnson formed a club named after the oldest member, Bessie James. He was followed by Rev. C.D. Bell during June of 1966 who served as Pastor for approximately two and a half years. In November of 1968, Rev. A.W. Jones of Bayboro accepted the invitation to become the Pastor and he remained in that position until succeeded by Rev. Johnny A. James. James faithfully served as Pastor until his passing in October 1985. After much consideration, Rev. Cleve Bryant became the Pastor and served as such until December 1988. In March 1989, the present Pastor, Rev. Glen Otis Greene, accepted the position as Pastor of Mt. Pilgrim. Under his leadership, teachings, and dedication to our Lord and Savior as Pastor, servant and friend, the congregation has grown in size.
