Good to be back to summer time church which means thin chasubles and sweat down the crack of your back. It’s also the time for getting to the meat and potatoes of the faith. I can number about 39 commandments and teachings Jesus gives to those who would follow him. Nowhere does he ask us to worship him. Nowhere does he command us to ridicule, demean, or hurt others especially with religion. ^MY

Our first harvest of the season! Thanks to the hard work of our volunteers, we provided produce to Brighton Center, Be Concerned, St Vincent de Paul & St Paul's Episcopal Church.

The first followers of Jesus only heard the promise “I am with you always” after they were willing to climb a mountain — a mountain. There was no reason given ahead of time as to why, no strategic plan, no catechism, no praise music, no canon law, or catchy mission statement slogan. It was relationship’s trust together with others climbing life’s same mountain that led them to change the world. We are here, like God, to show up and love one another not to function for or, worse, be used by. You are created in the image and likeness of God; there’s no time to make yourself small for someone else ever. —MY

One thing that gives me great joy and hope is St. Paul’s multi-year relationship with Mrs. Wilson’s third grade class at Newport Intermediate School. Each student has regular written and in-person interaction with someone from St. Paul’s, reading together, taking of requested items needed, sponsoring field trips, seasonal parties, and helping with any need we can. Today’s end of year celebration oddly had students not wanting to leave. We look forward to next year already. Thank you St. Paul’s faithful. ^MY
