This note is to remind you about our upcoming New Years retreat starting at 6:30pm on Saturday dec. 30, we encourage everyone to attend and ring in the New Year with singing, praying, short inspirational messages from several of our members,sharing the Lord's supper together, breaking a fast together, and general family fun. A few notes of emphasis, the Elders would like to wash the members feet on arrival, this is intended as an act of humble service to our fellow members, this act is not intended to embarrass anyone, therefore this activity is completely voluntary.
We encourage you to join us in prayer and fasting as well, whenever the bible talks about fasting it always connects it with prayer. Fasting is an act intended to focus our attention on prayer, and what a great time to focus on prayer than going into the new year! Some of us will give up eating from Friday after dinner til around 9:00pm on Saturday. Some might give up food after breakfast on Saturday. Food is not the only thing people can fast from, you may choose to fast from cell phone usage, texting, video games, TV, or anything that distracts you from God. Some may not be able to fast from food due to health reasons, please do not risk your health in any way to participate. We hope to have a time of sharing to encourage eachother in how we were affected by denying ourselves of something to focus on prayer. This fasting is voluntary as well. If you have any questions about these two voluntary activities Please call any of the elders.
We hope and pray you have a blessed new year and encourage you to spend it with your family at Remmel Saturday evening, starting at 6:30pm.
