What we want to do with donations gained in the 2015-2016 year:

1. Honor our past: Open our property to historical/educational tours. Introducing the lush history of the coast to where we are today.
2. A new office and historical museum: This is the most lavish of our expansion goals!
3. Our heavy equipment requires attention.
4. To increase community involvement and historical awareness of t

he treasure trove of Oregon Coastal history, development, growth, and family we protect year round at the Eureka Cemetery and Mausoleum.

You may know already, at Eureka Cemetery here in Newport, we have two veteran memorials on our property in need of lighting. We hold Memorial Day celebrations every year without any ready power for our amplifier or lights for our two memorials and flag pole. We use a portable generator temporarily during the ceremony but we would like a more permanent solution for both power and lights. In order to properly fly our flags on Memorial Day along with any other day when flags are flown through the night, we would need lighting. We would like our two memorials lighted year round. We have obtained a local contractor bid for lighting installation along with the costs for the PUD to install the line totaling $6,000 together. If possible, we would like to have everything installed and running by Memorial Day, May 30th this year. We are asking for your help to fund this project. We are truly a 501(c)(13) Non-profit organization and as such, all contributions to Eureka Cemetery are tax deductible. I have attached photos of our two memorials along with this plea for help in the installation of permanent power and lights for these memorials. Headstone edging, cleaning and repair are services we offer at Eureka Cemetery. Once this pictured headstone was edged we discovered the concrete had been damaged over the years. We cleaned the headstone which explains the difference in coloring and we are now replacing the concrete surround. These are services we offer. We will post the finished headstone when it is completed.

We are seeking volunteers for a number of positions in our organization. We are looking for volunteer Board members to help guide our cemetery through the creation and implementation of rules and regulations, along with policies and procedures, along with the day to day operations to best serve those entrusted to our care. We are looking for someone to seek out and apply for grants for maintenance, upkeep and improvements within our facility. Our continuous non-profit ad running every two weeks in the Newport News Times was tweaked just a little to show the hands clearer as they were just a shade too dark. We continue to be impressed with the graphics staff at the paper and their willingness to work with us to improve our ad's appearance.

A service we offer at Eureka Cemetery is that we make temporary concrete name markers for those waiting for final headstones or markers to be made and delivered. After installation of your permanent marker, these inexpensive temporary markers can then be taken home and used in gardens or walkways to remember those that have passed on. You may also order a name stamped in concrete for whatever reason you want. Please call for details and pricing.
