What comes out of us when life presses hardest?
In Acts 7, Stephen faces the loss of everything—even his life. But what is most remarkable isn't simply his courage. It's what his life looks like in those final moments.
He looks to Jesus.
He entrusts himself to Jesus.
And even toward the people hurting him, he responds like Jesus.
This Sunday, we'll look at Stephen's story and ask a question much closer to our everyday lives than, “Would I die for Jesus?”

God has placed His Spirit in His people—and that means each of us has a part to play. See the need. Make room. Step in. Serve faithfully.

Following Jesus doesn't mean our old instincts never resurface. It means they don't get to define who we're becoming.
Acts 6 gives us an honest picture of a church that got something wrong—but instead of hiding it, defending it, or ignoring it, they listened and allowed the Spirit to lead them forward.
That's good news for imperfect people and imperfect churches.

What happens when the church doesn't look like the people Jesus has made us to be?

Obedience gets real when saying yes to God means risking someone else's no.
You don't have to control the room, win everyone's approval, or know how it will turn out. You just have to know whose voice matters most.

Following Jesus will sometimes cost us something.
Comfort. Approval. Control. Security.
But obedience isn't ultimately about finding enough courage within ourselves. It's about trusting the One we're saying yes to.
The same Jesus who was rejected, suffered, died, and rose again can be trusted with whatever our obedience costs.
