Good morning family! After much prayer and consideration, we have decided to hold virtual services through the month of February. We will resume in-person services on Sunday, March 6th. We believe this decision will provide a safer way for us to congregate until the uptick subsides.
Two reasons prompted us to make this decision.
1) Temple of peace members, including my family, have tested positive for COVID, and are currently in quarantine. Some of us have experienced mild symptoms while others' symptoms were more severe. We thank God that none of us were hospitalized and that we are on the mend. We believe there may be others in the Body who have been, or will be exposed to people testing positive in the next few weeks. In addition, we have no way of knowing if visitors testing positive will attend our services. Therefore erring on the side of caution seems to be the wisest choice at this time.
2) According to the latest statistics, 1.19 million total cases have been reported in Virginia, with 15, 631 of those cases resulting in death. In Newport News alone, 25, 405 cases have been reported with 320 resulting in death.
In terms of routine activities:
- Bible Study will resume on Zoom this week, January 12th at 6:30. Meeting ID # 102 028 978.
- No praise and worship rehearsals until we terminate virtually
- All check-in meetings will be held virtually and meeting ID #'s will be given prior to meeting dates.
- Sunday service meeting ID # remains the same as it was last year: 841 7500 9466, however links will
be sent out as a reminder.
- The Finance Committee will be availabe to collect offerings at the church from 10:00-11:00 am on
Sunday mornings. Otherwise you may continue to cash-app your offerings.
- Our Annual Church Meeting scheduled for the first Sunday in February will be held on February 13th
after the morning service, either virtually or in-person. Notification will be given prior to the meeting.
Hang in there y'all! This is just another opportunity for God to get the glory! He will carry us through!
Please stay safe and healthy as we weather this latest challenge! God is still good and He is still God!
