Reflecting from last nights study “No other Gods” by Kelly Minter.
Are you struggling with feeling loved? This is not just a question for only those of us who are single but to all whether married or in a relationship. There are people who are in a relationship and struggle to feel loved by their significant other. Single folk are in a constant flounder…..I’m good, then I’m not, from there the flip flop continues .
We learned last night through the story of Racheal and Leah and Jacob, that as women we try so many things to procure the affection of that 1 person. We create all kinds of scenarios, try to manipulate our actions thinking that that would definitely render us the overdue affection.
Leah tried everything to gain Jacobs affection…to no avail.
Leah knew God, she prayed to God, she cried out to God yet she made Jacob her God. She wanted and craved Jacobs affection......God loved her regardless.
God opened up her womb and she bore Jacobs children, but never winning the heart or affection of Jacob. God loved Leah and chose her, chose her, not to be the apple of Jacobs eye but to be the apple of His eye. The opening up her womb allowed Leah to give birth to many sons, and it was through her fourth son Judah, where we see Gods great LOVE for Leah. She was chosen to bear a son whom she named Judah which means : Praise. The praised one, Judah the fourth son of Jacob and Leah is a direct ancestor to Jesus Christ. Look up the genealogy of Christ and you will find Judah.
At the moment of Judah’s birth Leah was handed by God an incredible inheritance, an inheritance chosen just for her as stated in Ephesians 1:11,
An inheritance, unlike the love of Jacob, one that will never perish, spoil or fade according to 1 Peter 1:4. That is true Love. The Gift of Jesus Christ.
“ I am the LORD thy God. Thou shalt have no other gods before Me.” I believe God was intentional when He mandated the first two Commandments in the order that He did. Our affections are so easily shifted.
We are chosen to bear witness to Christ and WE ARE LOVED ………. TGBTG!!!!
